Through the bond, I could feel her embarrassment like a wave of heat.

I saw her eyes widen in the mirror, her cheeks flushing a deep, delicious crimson.

She looked like she wanted to melt into the velvet of the chair.

The blow dryer paused in my hand.

I looked down at her.

The urge to sprint to the Nightfang borders and tear Jensen’s throat out was smoothed away by the simple fact that she had run to me.

“Worried about me?” I asked, my voice dropping into a low register.

I leaned down slightly, my face an inch away from hers.

I felt a ghost of a smile tugging at the corners of my mouth.

Natalie moved to get up, likely wanting to escape the suffocating tension of the room, but I pressed a hand firmly on her shoulder.

A jolt of electricity passed through me and with her expression, she felt it too.

“Don’t move.” I commanded, though the growl was gone. “Your hair’s not dry yet. From now on, no matter what happens you dry your hair first. No man is allowed to see you in this

state.”

I felt her heart tremble through the bond, a soft, vibrating resonance that matched my own.

‘This man…‘ I heard her thoughts, a mix of helplessness and dawning affection.

She shook her head with a soft, melodic laugh, the corners of her lips curving up in a way that made me want to stop the world right there.

“Alright,” she murmured. “I’ll stay.”

For those few minutes, I focused on the weight of her hair, the scent of her skin, and the way she leaned into my touch.

When the last of the dampness was gone, I set the dryer aside.

I stood behind her for a moment longer than necessary, my hands resting on the back of the chair.

“If something bothers you, don’t bottle it up,” she whispered against my mouth, her gaze searching mine with an intensity that made Raze go still. “If something is bothering you, say it. We’re in this together now.”

I looked at her, and for a split second, the question was on the tip of my tongue.
