Baron’s POV

I looked at Natalie, her eyes bright with a desperate, maternal hunger that I had fueled with a single confession.
She wanted her children, but I couldn’t let them in.
Not yet.
Her wounds were fresh, the blood still damp on the dressings I had just replaced.
If the twins saw her like this, the image would haunt them forever. And if Natalie saw the look of horror I knew they couldn’t hide, it would shatter what was left of her spirit.
So, I lied.
“They were exhausted from the boat ride,” I said, my voice steady. They’re probably already asleep. You should rest too. I’ll have Yvonne start you on two rounds of anti–inflammatory IVs. While I’m our searching for a matching donor, your job is to focus on getting your strength back. As for the little rascals, don’t worry. When you wake up tomorrow, they’ll be right there waiting for you.”
Natalie’s face transformed as she smiled immediately.
“Thank you, Baron.” Her voice was soft, sweet, and for a terrifying second, she sounded exactly like Susie when she was angling for an extra bedtime story.
I opened my mouth to reply, but she was already gone. The combination of blood loss and the sedatives I’d slipped into her line had finally hit her limit. She drifted off into a deep, heavy sleep.
Watching her, my heart felt like it was being hollowed out. This woman was mine, and world before I let anything–or anyone–take her from me again.
Ours,‘ Raze said, growling.
‘Welcome back, I said in my head but got a grunt in response.
I adjusted the flow of her IV drip with practiced fingers, ensuring the medication would I

“Keep an eye on her,” I commanded.

Yvonne nodded, her eyes fixed on the chart as she made a note of the instructions.

“You messaged me earlier.” I said, turning to face her. I hadn’t forgotten the mention of her sister. “What is this about. Phantom?”
Yvonne hesitated, a flicker of fear crossing her face.
She pulled her phone from her pocket and opened an email. “This morning, I received a message from my sister’s account. But the contents… I couldn’t quite understand what it meant. It was encrypted, or perhaps written in a code I’m not familiar with.”
She handed me the device, and I took it, my eyes scanning the lines of text.
My expression darkened instantly… I knew that code. It wasn’t just a message; it was a trail leading back to the moment the warehouse had burned.
I didn’t offer an explanation.
I simply forwarded the email to my private, secure server, then deleted it from her account and wiped the data recovery sectors.
“Don’t worry about it for now,” I said, my voice low. “If any more messages come in like this, forward them straight to me. Yvonne, for now, just focus on Natalie. And as for your sister… I’ll give you an answer when the time comes.”
I could see the gears turning in her head. She wasn’t a fool. “Alpha Baron… did my sister betray you?”
I didn’t answer.
“Once Natalie recovers a little, I’ll make time to talk,” I said, dismissing her.
I turned and walked out, leaving Yvonne frozen in the middle of the sterile ward.
I stepped into the living room, my mind already halfway across the city, calculating the movements of the skin–graft black market. I didn’t even see the shadow until it was directly in my path.
“What are you doing out here? Where’s Susie?” I asked, my brow furrowing.
Sean stood there, his small frame blocking my path.
His bright, piercing eyes locked onto mine.
He spoke slowly, “Run a skin compatibility test between me and Mommy.”
I remembered Natalie’s face when she had threatened to starve herself… I remembered the way she had chosen to be disfigured over letting her children suffer.
“Your mommy
rather never son’t allow it,” I said, my voice dropping to a low rasp. “She loves you so much, and she’d

“But the grafts won’t be sides. “You can at least run the test. If I match, then just take a small you don’t have to tell her. You’re the doctor. Baron. You can hide it
