Chapter 119

Kate stood before me, her face ashen and body trembling slightly. The confident facade she’d maintained throughout our years of antagonism had crumbled, revealing something I rarely saw in her–genuine fear.
“You… you want to do what?” she stammered, taking a step back.
I maintained my composure, refusing to show any weakness. After years of enduring her manipulations and lies, I finally had the upper hand. The videos exposing the truth about my so–called ‘attack‘ on a human three years ago had shifted the power dynamic between us completely.
I’m warning you, Kate,” I said, my voice eerily calm. “Don’t try to mess with me again. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself truly in a place with no return.”
Her eyes darted around, looking for an escape route. This wasn’t the Kate I knew–the sister who had methodically orchestrated my downfall with calculated precision. This Kate was cornered, and cornered wolves were unpredictable.
Before she could respond, the sharp click of heels against the university’s marble floor drew our attention. I turned to see Audrey White striding toward us, her designer outfit as impeccable as always, her predatory gaze fixed on Kate.
“There you are,” Audrey said, her voice dripping with false concern.
I couldn’t help the small, satisfied smile that formed on my lips. “Look, Kate. Your mother has come to pick you up.”
Kate’s head snapped toward me, confusion replacing fear. “What are you talking about? Victoria is my mother.”
Audrey reached for Kate’s hand, her fingers wrapping around her wrist. “Are you hurt, darling? I heard about what happened on the roof.”
Kate yanked her hand away violently, her face contorting with disgust. “Don’t touch me! Your scent makes me sick. She backed away, her eyes flashing gold for a split second–a clear sign of her wolf responding to a threat.
The hallway had emptied after my confrontation with Kate, leaving the three of us alone in this twisted family drama.
“We should take this somewhere private,” I suggested, gesturing toward an empty office nearby. Neither of them objected as I led the way.
Once inside the university office, Kate positioned herself as far from Audrey as possible, her eyes darting between us with growing suspicion.
“What’s going on?” she demanded. “Why did you call her my mother?”
Audrey smoothed her skirt and settled into one of the chairs. “Because I am, Kate. I’m your biological mother.
Kate’s laugh was sharp and brittle. “You’re insane. Both of you.”
I leaned against the desk, watching the scene unfold. “I didn’t understand it either at first. I wondered why Mother always favored you, why she treated you like her precious daughter while treating me like an outsider.” I tilted my head, studying Kate’s increasingly pale face. But it makes sense now. Jonathan told Victoria that you were her daughter, and that I was his child from an affair.”
Kate shook her head vehemently. “That’s ridiculous! You’re making this up to confuse me.”
I turned to Audrey, curiosity getting the better of me. “What exactly did you give Jonathan that made him so enamored with you? So willing to betray his

own family?”
Audrey’s smile was cold. “Love makes men do foolish things, Evelyn. Jonathan was no exception.”
Kate slammed her fist against the wall, cracking the plaster. “This isn’t true! If I’m the daughter of a… a werewolf mistress, how could I possibly have been promised to Sebastian? You’ve ruined everything!” Her voice broke on the last word, her composure finally shattering completely.
I did everything for you,” Audrey said softly, reaching toward Kate again. “Everything.”
I’d seen enough. This family’s web of lies and deceit had entangled us all for too long. I pushed away from the desk and headed for the door.
“Where are you going?” Kate demanded, desperation evident in her voice.
“I’ve said what I needed to say,” I replied without looking back. “Figure out your new family dynamics without me.”
The door closed behind me with a satisfying click. In the empty hallway, I finally allowed myself a moment to breathe. The truth was out–not just about my innocence, but about the foundation of lies our family was built upon.
I pulled out my phone and dialed Aiden’s number. He answered on the second ring.
“How’s it going, Aurora?” he asked, using my hacker alias.
“The Gray Group’s stock is in freefall after the videos went public,” I said. “Have you purchased more shares as I asked?”
“Yes, but are you sure about this? You’re essentially buying into a sinking ship.”
I smiled to myself as I walked through the deserted university corridors. “Trust me, Aiden. When stocks hit rock bottom, we’ll own enough to control the company. Jonathan’s embezzlement scandal is just the beginning.”
“I don’t know if I should be impressed or terrified by your strategic mind,” Aiden said with a low whistle. “By the way, Edward says he’s coming to Seattle. His private jet arrives tomorrow. I think he heard about what happened to you all these years.”
My steps faltered momentarily. Edward Luna, the founder of the Moonlight Organization, rarely left England. If he was coming personally, the situation was more serious than I’d anticipated.
“I understand,” I replied, keeping my voice steady. “Keep me updated on the stock purchases.”
After ending the call, I glanced at my watch. It was late, much later than I’d realized. The library’s fluorescent lights had made me lose track of time while researching Gray Group stock patterns. I needed to head home.
My phone buzzed with an incoming call from Devon.
“Still not out of school?” his deep voice rumbled through the speaker, sending a familiar warmth through me.
“You are back?” was surprised as I pushed open the heavy doors and stepped into the cool evening air. “I’m heading out now.”
