“Please relax,” I said calmly to my patient, though my own heart was racing. “This won’t affect your treatment.”
Victoria surveyed my clinic with contempt that was all too familiar. “So this is your new scheme? Parading around using the Gray family’s Moonlight Healer
tradition to con people?”
I continued treating my patient, fighting to maintain my professional demeanor despite the hurt her words caused. “If you’re here for treatment, please wait your turn. If not, I’d appreciate if you didn’t disturb my patients.”
Victoria laughed coldly. “You have no right to use the Moonlight Healing name. That’s a Gray family tradition, and you were expelled!”
The patients began murmuring in support of me. She saved my cub!” “She’s a true Moonlight Healer!” Their defense warmed me, a stark contrast to the coldness radiating from the woman who should have protected me.
Ignoring them, Victoria approached my medicine cabinet. “These formulas are Gray family property. You have no right to use them!”
Emma stepped between Victoria and the cabinet. “These medicines were gathered and prepared on Hall territory. They have nothing to do with the Gray
family.”
When Victoria attempted to knock over my herb shelf, an elderly werewolf blocked her. “This is great disrespect to a healer, Mrs. Gray!”
The confrontation escalated as Victoria’s guards moved forward threateningly. Suddenly, a powerful Alpha presence filled the room. I didn’t need to turn to know Devon had arrived–I could feel his energy, controlled but furious.
The Gray guards instinctively lowered their heads in submission to the stronger Alpha.
“Victoria Gray,” Devon said, his voice calm but filled with authority, “you’re harassing someone under my protection on Hall territory. This is a serious offense against my family.”
Victoria attempted to argue. “She’s stealing the Gray family’s traditions and reputation!”
Devon stood firm. “Evelyn learned from Isabel Gray herself, and this is Hall territory. We welcome the revival of the Moonlight Healing tradition here.”
With a gesture, Devon ordered his men to escort Victoria out. As they led her away, she shouted, “I won’t let you get away with this, Evelyn! Your father has thrown me out to be with that shameless Audrey! Your entire family is despicable!”
Her words stung, but I focused on completing my patient’s treatment. The victory felt hollow–I’d helped people today, but my own mother still saw me as nothing more than a disgrace.
That evening, back at the Hall mansion, Lily greeted us excitedly. “I heard everything that happened! The healing center was a huge success. You must be
exhausted.
I nodded, trying to hide how drained I truly felt. “It was quite a day.” My shoulder had been throbbing for hours, but I’d ignored it in the rush of treating
patients.
As we settled in the living room, Devon’s gaze lingered on me with concern. I felt suddenly light–headed, the room spinning slightly.

Chapter 134
“Evelyn, are you feeling alright? Devon moved closer, studying my face with an intensity that made me nervous.
“I’m fine, I insisted, but my voice sounded weak even to my own cars. “Just tired from the first day.”
Devon’s gaze dropped to my shoulder. I followed his eyes and was shocked to see a dark stain spreading across my light–colored blouse. “You’re bleeding, be said, his voice suddenly tense.
I looked down in surprise. “That’s strange. I thought it had healed enough. The wound shouldn’t have reopened–not unless something was seriously wrong.
Devon gently pulled back the fabric, and I winced at the contact. I could see the skin around the wound had an unhealthy gray tinge, and fresh blood was seeping through the bandage. A wave of dizziness washed over me, and I suddenly realized how cold I felt.
“The silver poisoning is flaring up again, Devon said, his voice sounding increasingly distant to my ears. The stress of today’s confrontation with Victoria and all the healing work you did must have weakened you.”
“I didn’t want to ruin today’s success,” I admitted, my voice coming out as barely a whisper. The room was starting to blur around the edges.
“Emma, get my car ready,” Devon called out, and I felt myself being lifted into his strong arms. “Lily, bring her medication kit from upstairs.”
Olivia’s face appeared in my narrowing field of vision. “Her body temperature is dropping. Silver toxicity can accelerate rapidly.”
“I’m taking her to the hospital now,” Devon said firmly. I wanted to protest, but couldn’t find the strength. My head rolled weakly against his shoulder as he
carried me.
“Felix needs to check this immediately. The healing center will have to wait until you’re properly recovered.*
“But the patients…” I managed to whisper, thinking of all the werewolves who might come tomorrow expecting help.
“Will still be there when you’re well,” Devon finished, his voice gentle but allowing no argument. “You can’t help others if you don’t survive yourself.”
As he carried me to the car, each breath became more labored. I could feel my consciousness slipping. Devon placed me carefully in the passenger seat, his face the last thing I could focus on.
“Hold on,” he whispered, his warm hand grasping my increasingly cold one. “I’m not losing you to silver poisoning. Not after everything we’ve been through.”
The engine roared to life, but the sound seemed to come from miles away.
