Chapter 199
Evelyn
Aiden stood nervously by the door. “He was just following orders, Evelyn. I swear, after he got to know you, he never did anything to hurt you. The
organization has protocols=”
“Stop.” My voice cut through the air like ice. “I don’t want to hear excuses.” I finished bandaging Edward’s shoulder with mechanical movements. “You know what I hate most in this world? Betrayal.”

The island memories crashed over me the experiments, the silver cages, the little wolf pup they killed in front of me to break my spirit. All those nights I’d spent fighting to survive, while the Luna family watched.
“Three years,” I said, my voice barely audible. “For three years, you were like a father to me, Edward. You taught me everything about hacking, helped me build a life. My hands trembled. “All while knowing exactly what had been done to me.”
“Evelyn, please-” Edward reached for my hand, but I jerked away.
“Did you laugh when you reported back to them? ‘Poor little white wolf, doesn’t even know who’s pulling her strings.” My voice cracked as anger and pain
twisted inside me.
I felt something break – like a dam giving way. The rage consumed my reason as memories flooded back. The scent of blood. my skin.
As soon as the treatment was done, I had to get away–I couldn’t face Edward anymore.
My
own screams. Silver burning
I barely made it down the hallway before the first spasm hit. I stumbled into an empty room and slammed the door. My reflection showed a stranger now glowing white, skin flushing as silver–white patterns began to appear beneath the surface.
The door splintered open. Devon stood there, his powerful frame silhouetted in the doorway, eyes widening at my state.
“Get out, I growled, feeling my teeth sharpening. “Devon, please. I can’t control it. I’ll hurt you.”
eyes
He stepped forward. “I’m not leaving you, Evelyn. I’m your Alpha.”
“You don’t understand, I gasped, doubling over in pain. “My wolf… she’s too angry…”
The transformation tore through me like wildfire. Fur erupted across my skin – pure, luminescent white. The final shift was violent, my human consciousness pushed aside as the white wolf took control.
I was aware but unable to stop myself as I snarled and lunged at the furniture, clawing at walls, releasing years of rage. Devon tried to approach, his Alpha energy filling the room, but my wolf was beyond reason.
Through the wolf’s eyes, I saw Devon shift partially, his eyes glowing golden as he commanded, “Enough.”
My wolf paused momentarily before resuming her rampage. Eventually, my strength began to wane. The last thing I remembered was Devon’s arms catching me as I collapsed, surrendering to exhaustion.

Chapter 199
I awoke to the gentle rustle of leaves and moonlight on my skin. I was lying on soft grass in a clearing, surrounded by tall trees. I realized I was naked except for Devon’s leather jacket draped over me.
Devon sat nearby, watching me with those intense blue eyes. He’d changed into loose track pants, his chest bare in the moonlight.
“Where are we?” I croaked, my throat raw.
“Hall family territory,‘ he replied. “I thought you needed space away from everything.”
Memory flooded back. I sat up abruptly. “Did I hurt anyone?”
“No,” he assured me. “And Edward is stable, Lucas is handling Alex. Everything is under control. Right now, only you matter.”
