Chapter 200
“Because I saw her tonight,” he said softly. “Yes, she was angry, but she was also beautiful and strong. Like you. His fingers intertwined with mine. “You don’t need to control her. You need to become one with her.”
He stood, offering his hand. “Let me show you.”
I took his hand, letting him pull me to my feet. Something primal had taken over – a connection to the forest, the moon, and the man standing before me.
“The key is acceptance,” Devon explained, stepping back.
He closed his eyes, his body relaxing. I witnessed the transformation in awe beneath his skin until a magnificent black wolf stood before me.

‘I don’t know if I can do that,” I admitted. “My transformations have always been forced by pain or fear.”
Devon shifted back partially, just enough to speak. “Because you’ve always fought against it. Feel it, Evelyn. Your wolf is part of you, not something to fear.”
I closed my eyes, focusing inward. Instead of pushing away the wolf’s presence, I reached for it. To my surprise, I felt not rage but a curious, tentative
connection.
“That’s it,” Devon encouraged. “Don’t command her. Invite her.”
I took a deep breath and surrendered. The transformation began, but unlike before, it wasn’t painful. It felt like stretching after a long sleep – uncomfortable but satisfying. My senses sharpened, my body reconfiguring until I stood on four paws, white fur gleaming in the moonlight.
Devon shifted fully again, and we faced each other as wolves. His black fur contrasted with my white as he circled me playfully. I felt a rush of joy – the exhilaration of finally being whole.
Then, Devon led me to a small lake, its surface reflecting the moon. We shifted back, the process becoming easier each time. I stood naked on the shore, feeling more at peace than I had in years.

This place is special to my family,” Devon said quietly. “Generations of Halls have come here for important ceremonies.”
I turned to face him, understanding why he’d brought me here. “The mating mark.”
He nodded solemnly.
‘I choose you as my Alpha, Devon Hall,” I said, certain despite everything that had happened.
He stepped closer, his bare chest brushing against my skin, sending a shiver of anticipation through me. I could feel the heat radiating from him, my body already responding–my nipples hardening in the cool night air, a familiar ache building between my thighs.
Devon gently tilted my head to expose my neck, his breath hot against my skin. “This will hurt, but only for a moment,” he murmured, his voice rough with
desire.
I nodded, closing my eyes as his lips brushed my skin, soft and teasing at first, building the tension. His hands roamed down my sides, cupping my hips and pulling me flush against him—I could feel his hardness pressing into my stomach, a clear sign of how much he wanted this too. In my mind, I reveled in it: this power I had over him, the way our bodies fit so perfectly, the promise of more after the mark.
