When we shifted back to our human forms, exhaustion hit me like a tidal wave. My legs wobbled, and a gnawing hunger clawed at my stomach.

“Careful!” Devon quickly steadied me, his strong arms wrapping around my waist. “Your shift drains a lot of energy. It’s perfectly normal.”

‘I’m starving,” I said weakly, leaning against his chest. “And so tired.”

Without hesitation, Devon scooped me up into his arms. “I’ll take care of you. First, a hot bath, then food.”

Back at the villa, Devon ran a hot bath for me, adding aromatic oils that he said would help soothe my aching muscles.

“Is the temperature okay?” he asked, testing the water with his hand.

‘Perfect, I said gratefully. “Thank you for taking such good care of me.”

“It’s what I should do,” Devon said tenderly. “You’re my mate, and caring for you is my greatest privilege.”

While I soaked in the bath, Devon went to the kitchen and prepared a nutritious soup and sandwiches, By the time I emerged, wrapped in a fluffy robe, the

food was waiting.

After eating, we sat on the balcony of the master bedroom, gazing at the star–filled sky. The night was clear, and the sound of waves provided a soothing backdrop to our conversation.

“How do you feel?” Devon asked, pulling me closer so that I was resting against his chest, his arms encircling me protectively.

“Like I’ve rediscovered a part of myself,” I said thoughtfully. “The shift feels smoother than before, but it drains so much of my energy.

“We have a lifetime,” Devon said, his eyes reflecting the starlight as he gazed at me with Intensity. “I’ll teach you everything you want to know.”

Under the stars, our conversation gradually faded into soft whispers. Devon’s hand caressed my cheek, and I could see the desire building in his eyes.

“Evelyn,” he whispered, his voice husky. “I want to kiss you.”

Instead of answering, I leaned forward and pressed my lips to his. The kiss was deeper and more passionate than any we’d shared before, filled with the emotions that had blossomed after our shared experience.
