Rise of the Banished She-Wolf (Evelyn) novel Chapter 86

**Chapter 86**

**Devon**

I stormed across the island, each stride fueled by the raw fury of my Alpha spirit. Jason had finally tracked down Anne, and my patience had reached its breaking point. The security footage showing her tampering with restricted terminals had only solidified my suspicions. As I neared the secluded cabin where Jason had confined her, my wolf instincts kicked into high gear; I could almost taste the pungent scent of deceit and fear hanging in the air long before I even pushed the door open.

Upon entering, I found Anne seated at a small, rickety table, her posture a carefully crafted façade of submission. She glanced up at me, her eyes wide and innocent, but I was not so easily deceived. I knew better than to fall for her act.

“Mr. Hall, there must be some misunderstanding—” she began, her voice trembling slightly.

“Save it,” I interrupted, my tone dangerously low and laced with fury. “You sold out Aurora.”

The flicker of her expression shifted, revealing a calculating mind as she weighed her next words. “What could I do? I’m just a woman trying to survive in this world,” she retorted, her voice imbued with a hint of desperation.

Her pathetic excuse ignited a firestorm of rage within me. I slammed my fist onto the table, the force of it causing the wood to crack and splinter, the sound reverberating ominously through the cramped cabin.

“You exposed the Moonlight Organization’s coordinates! Did you even pause to consider the repercussions of your actions?” I demanded, my voice echoing with intensity.

“They paid well,” Anne shot back, dropping her pretense of innocence. “Not everyone has the luxury of principles.”

Just then, the door swung open behind me, and the familiar scent of Anderson reached my nostrils before I even turned to look. The older scientist stood there, his face pale and lined with disappointment as he regarded Anne with a depth of sorrow that cut through the tension in the room.

“You were my student,” he said quietly, his voice trembling with hurt. “I trusted you with everything. You don’t deserve that title anymore.”

Anne rolled her eyes, dismissing his words with a wave of her hand. “Spare me the dramatics, old man.”

“The lab equipment malfunction,” Anderson pressed on, his voice hardening with resolve. “The explosion was your doing too, wasn’t it?”

Her silence spoke volumes, a confirmation that sent my wolf into a frenzy, urging me to unleash my wrath. Yet, I fought to keep it contained, channeling my anger into focus.
