Leo had lost a lot of weight. His face was pale and drawn, and he looked completely drained.

He’d been through hell these past few days.

Back then, he thought his late wife was worrying too much.

But she just wanted to make sure their kids would be protected, and since he loved her so much, he was more than willing to fulfill her final wish.

So he not only signed the agreement, but he also had it notarized.

He never told his kids about it, and he never breathed a word to Mavis either.

Now, he realized he’d made the right call.

Leo asked weakly, “Where’s Nicole’s biological father?

“He planned all this just to bring me down. Why isn’t he here to see what a mess I am now?”

Nicole replied, “He doesn’t need to show up for something like this.”

Leo gave her a mocking look. “You still latch onto a new ‘Dad’ in no time, huh?”

She’d only been in the Hammond family for one day before she started calling him “Dad”.

Back then, he figured it was because her last dad had treated her so badly.

But now, it’s obvious-she’ll call whoever’s most useful ‘Dad’.

He’d been totally clueless, thinking she was just some poor, helpless kid, so he took her in and treated her like his own daughter.
