Rising From Betrayal Reborn As The Family Outcast novel Chapter 146

Chapter 146

A few days later, at the hospital.

Leo had lost a lot of weight. His face was pale and drawn, and he looked completely drained.

He’d been through hell these past few days.

He couldn’t sleep, day or night. If he didn’t take his old sleeping pills, it felt like ants were crawling all over his skin.

He also noticed there were cameras in his room, watching his every move.

He’d only managed to hold on this long through sheer willpower.

He now knew exactly what Mavis and the others were after, and he had proof they were keeping him here against his will and torturing him.

So he looked straight at the camera and said, “I’ll sign the agreement.”

He knew that even if he signed it, it wouldn’t mean anything.

Before his late wife passed away, she’d made him sign another agreement.

If he ever tried to transfer more than ten percent of his estate to anyone else, the deal wouldn’t count.

If there was ever a fight over his assets between his own kids and his second wife’s children, ninety percent of everything would go straight to his first wife’s kids, no questions asked.

Back then, he thought his late wife was worrying too much.

But she just wanted to make sure their kids would be protected, and since he loved her so much, he was more than willing to fulfill her final wish.

So he not only signed the agreement, but he also had it notarized.

He never told his kids about it, and he never breathed a word to Mavis either.

Now, he realized he’d made the right call.

If he hadn’t, Mavis and the others probably wouldn’t have just stopped at forcing him to sign the asset transfer agreement.

He couldn’t wait to see them come crashing down from their high horses. Just thinking about it made him feel a twisted sense of satisfaction.

Soon after, Mavis and Nicole came into the hospital room.

Leo asked weakly, “Where’s Nicole’s biological father?

‘He planned all this just to bring me down. Why isn’t he here to see what a mess I am now?”

Nicole replied, “He doesn’t need to show up for something like this.”

Julian had his own people watching Leo, but none of them ever figured out his real background.

He never meant for his secret to get out, but somehow, the Hammond family had caught on.

This was bad news.

Nicole said, “It must’ve been Alicia who looked into it.

“She’s been watching me closely these days. Maybe that’s how she discovered your identity.”

She was just making things up, mainly to get her dad to target Alicia.

Alicia had already severed ties with the Hammond family and sold off all her shares in Hammond Group.

She had gotten everything from the Hammonds, so it didn’t affect her interests at all.

That really pissed Nicole off.

Julian’s eyes flashed with a dangerous glint. “Alicia? She deserves to die.”

That little brat had messed up his plans more than once. She was the sharpest one in the Hammond family, and honestly, she needed to be taken out first.
