Nicole had wanted to provoke Alicia, and it had worked.

Alicia had been provoked enough that she publicly mocked Nicolas and Maxwell to their faces.

But Nicole hadn’t expected this outcome.

Based on their past behavior, even if Nicolas and Maxwell didn’t say anything harsh to Alicia, they definitely wouldn’t be smiling and trying to cozy up to her after getting insulted like this.

She paused, letting that sink in. “But I do have one requirement.”

Chase asked, “What requirement?” He had a feeling Alicia was about to generate more buzz for their show.

Alicia’s voice was steady and clear. “The trainees who originally chose our team can’t draw for Team 1 in the new lottery.”

Felicity’s anger flared immediately. “Why the hell not?”

Alicia raised an eyebrow, and a small smile played at her lips. “Ms. Sterling, you’re really asking me why? Well, obviously it’s because of you.”

Her expression said, “How can you seriously not see the problem here?”

“I’m worried that because they picked me before, you’re holding a grudge, Ms. Sterling,” Alicia continued smoothly. “And then you’ll take it out on them later and make their lives miserable.”

Felicity hadn’t expected Alicia to fire back so directly. “Are you questioning my professionalism?”

Alicia couldn’t help but laugh. “Ms. Sterling, are you sure you even have that? Besides, this isn’t the first or second time you’ve taken your anger out on people you don’t like.

“I’m not about to let the people who chose me get picked apart by you,” Alicia continued. “That would be the biggest injustice to them. If it affects their rankings after the public performance, I’d feel terrible.”

She spread her hands. “So that’s my condition. If you don’t agree, then I won’t agree to redraw.”

Alicia’s fierce protectiveness moved all eight people who had chosen her group.

They’d been worried that if they redrew and got assigned to Felicity’s group, they’d be in for hell.”

Nicolas added, “We can guarantee we won’t target anyone, but we can’t speak for Ms. Sterling. So let’s just settle it this way.”

He went straight to proposing a solution. “Let’s redraw. Team 4’s trainees go first. After they’re done, we’ll add Team 1 back in and continue.”

This way, both Nicole and Alicia could save face, and they wouldn’t have to be stuck in the middle anymore.

But what he didn’t know was that Nicole felt so wronged right now she wanted to cry.

‘What are they doing?’ she thought. ‘Whatever Alicia says goes? Then what was the point of me asking them for help earlier? I feel like such a joke. Where’s the exclusive favoritism they promised to show everyone?’

Nicole wanted them to fight with Alicia directly, like they used to, not grovel and try to make peace with her.

‘What’s going on?’ she thought, and the feeling that something had slipped out of her control made her uneasy.

Nicole had no idea that Alicia had already told Nicolas and Maxwell she was cutting ties with them.
