Chapter 57
Jason could guess exactly what was going through her mind.

“I can’t say I appreciate your efforts,” he said flatly. “And as for why I call him an old bastard, it’s because he doesn’t deserve to be called anything else.
“What disgusts me most is the way he sends you out to fight his battles while he sits back and reaps the rewards.
“No wonder Victor’s mother never thought much of him.
“He spent years groveling after her, and in the end, she died heartbroken over another man.”
Jason was certain Adam was listening and he deliberately aimed each word to strike deep.
If they had come looking for a confrontation, he would make sure every word hit its mark.
A flicker of unease crossed Rosalie’s face.
She had put the call on speaker, wanting Adam to hear her put their son in his place.
She hadn’t expected Jason to sound so completely unhinged today.
Her eyes darted immediately toward Adam. His expression had darkened, tension simmering just beneath the surface.
“Don’t you dare talk about your father that way!” she snapped into the phone, her voice sharp with alarm. “None of that is
true.”
“Since when do I take orders from you?” Jason fired back. “Who do you think you are?”
His tone remained cold, detached. “You don’t deserve to be called ‘mother’ either. So maybe both of you should stop pretending you matter.”
Much of Rosalie’s recent venom toward Jason stemmed from one simple fact: since Jason had taken control of Lucent Media, he had cut off every channel she once used to exploit the company.
Adam had pushed her to fight for shares, but she had failed.
Unlike his brother, Jason refused to yield to her dramatics or indulge her demands.
And as her value in Adam’s eyes began to fade, her resentment toward Jason had only sharpened.
From childhood, Jason and his brother had been relentlessly pushed by Rosalie to excel, expected to be first in everything.
Falling short meant scolding and punishment.
She couldn’t stand the thought of them being outshone by Victor.
Yet whenever Adam openly favored his eldest son, she never defended her own children. Instead, she often undermined them, her entire world revolving around Adam’s approval.
She quietly resented Victor’s mother but never dared confront Victor himself, knowing he held Adam’s affection.
Whenever she felt slighted or frustrated, she took it out on Jason and his brother, blaming them for failing to secure her position.

Chapter 37
There had been a time when Jason was tormented by having a mother like her.
As a child, he, too, had yearned for a parent’s love.
In the end, all he ever really had was his brother, and even that had been taken from him.
Rosalie had always resented Jason’s cold, silent responses to her tirades.
Now she realized his words were far worse, each one sharp as a blade, cutting and cruel.
Trembling with anger, she spat. You you’re completely out of line.”
She couldn’t resist the threat. “If you keep this up. I’ll disown you.”

In her mind, both her sons had always craved her approval. No matter how she treated them, they would eventually relent.
A dry, humorless laugh escaped Jason. Thank you. That would be a relief.
“Since we’re being clear, he continued, his tone final. “from today on. I am severing all ties with the Farrell family and with you. I’ll issue a public statement to that effect.”
As the words left him, a weight seemed to lift from his shoulders.
Rosalie stared, stunned, unable to process that Jason would actually cut her off.
You are my son!” she cried, her voice rising in panic. “I won’t allow this. You will not make that statement.”
Losing Jason would mean facing the Farrell family completely alone, and she wouldn’t allow it.
“Do you hear me?” she shouted. “I forbid it!”
Jason let out a derisive scoff. “What are you, the queen?
Tell Adam this: since he sent you after me today, he and Victor should expect a gift in return.
“Don’t contact me again, Mrs. Farrell. You’re on your own now.”
She meant nothing to him anymore.
He ended the call and blocked her on every platform.
There was no denying it. Pushing back felt liberating. He’d given them too much power for far too long.
Following Alicia’s lead was definitely the right move, he thought to himself.
On the other end, hearing the dial tone, Rosalie stood frozen, confusion clouding her eyes.
She turned to Adam “Darling, what does he mean? How could he dare cut us off?”
Adam’s expression darkened further. ‘He’s capable of anything now,” he replied tersely
Jason’s really grown some nerve, he thought bitterly.
It was unsettling how little Jason seemed to care about Rosalie’s feelings now.
More unsettling was how the usually quiet young man now spoke with a venomous sharpness, as though his entire nature

had shifted.
What could have made Jason change so much?’ Adam wondered.
It was not a change he welcomed and one he intended to investigate thoroughly.
After a moment’s thought, Adam said to Rosalie, “Why don’t you go see him yourself in a few days?”
“He’s still struggling to get around, so it’s no wonder he’s been so out of sorts lately.
“As parents, we need to be patient with him.”
“Try not to get into another argument. Just talk things through calmly.”
“We can’t let him do anything rash.”
He couldn’t risk Jason cutting ties completely.
With the bitterness Jason held toward him and Victor, reaching out himself would only make things worse.
It had to be Rosalie. Her connection to Jason was the one thread they couldn’t afford to lose.

Adam also felt heartbroken over the loss of his second son, but what was gone was gone, and Victor hadn’t meant to harm him on purpose.
Victor had only intended to teach him a lesson. He never expected the car accident to turn so tragic.
As long as Jason didn’t obsess over revenge and turn against them, Adam wouldn’t have done anything to him.
After all, no matter what, Jason was still his own flesh and blood.
But if Jason insisted on fixating on Victor and refusing to let go, Adam couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
Hearing Adam’s words, Rosalie replied with clear irritation, “After all he’s done, you’re still making excuses for him. What a shame he’ll never understand how much you’ve sacrificed for him.”
She continued, “I’ll go see him in a few days. Don’t worry.”
Though privately uneasy, she was determined not to let Jason slip beyond her influence.
As for the Hammond family matter, Adam had no choice but to seek help from an old friend to temporarily suppress the trending online topic.
At his hotel, Jason paused in thought before sending Alicia a message, asking if she might have time for a phone call.
Seeing his text, Alicia left the training room with her phone and stepped onto a quiet balcony before dialing his number.
Jason answered promptly. “Alicia, I need your advice on something.”
“What’s on your mind?” she asked warmly.
Jason recounted his mother’s call pressuring him to remove the trending topic.
“They keep causing trouble for me,” he said. “I think it’s time I returned the favor. How would you suggest I strike back?”

He added, “I’m already targeting their business interests and setting traps there. This time, though, I want to hit them where it really hurts-their reputation.”
Alicia immediately sensed that Rosalie must have provoked him deeply.
“Adam, much like Leo, is very image-conscious,” she said. “Victor spent years spreading rumors about you, and your father never missed a chance to criticize you behind your back for being ‘difficult.”
She thought for a moment before suggesting, “You know what you should do? Get them trending. Make it messy.
“Something like… ‘Adam’s mystery date revealed to be his eldest son’s secret fling. That kind of thing.
“The juicier, the better. Total tabloid bait.”
“And if you’ve got photos? Even more perfect.
“Adam and Victor have built their whole image on being squeaky-clean. Can you imagine the fireworks if a story like that dropped?”
Everyone loves a juicy scandal from the high-society crowd.
In her past life, when Alicia worked with Jason, Victor couldn’t resist stirring up rumors.
He painted Jason as someone who acted all proper in public but played wild behind the scenes, even claiming that Jason was keeping Alicia as his mistress.
Victor went as far as buying a trending hashtag, spreading rumors like Jason and Nicolas throw hands over Alicia and accusing her of two-timing both of them.
Later, she and Jason had made sure to retaliate in kind.
This time, Alicia thought it would be fitting to use Victor’s own tactics and let him experience firsthand what it felt like.
