Chapter 83
Alicia’s expression showed clear disgust.
She let out a cold laugh. “We’ve already cut ties. Can you stop bringing up this ‘family’ nonsense?
“Is guilt-tripping me the only way you know how to get by?
I already told you, Jason’s offer is generous. How is that not a good deal?
“It’s easy for you to judge when you’re not the one suffering.”

Her gaze grew even colder. “And everything I eat, wear, or use has nothing to do with the Hammond family. It all comes from my mom.
“Good thing I still have my mom. If I had to rely on the Hammond family, I would’ve starved ages ago.
“Go play happy family with your wife and daughter. Just stop coming around and making me sick. Can we just stay out of each other’s lives?”
She stood up and turned to Ian. “Dad, let’s go. I’m seriously disgusted.”
lan stood up as well. “Alright.”
He gave Leo a long, hard look. “Leo, I never realized you could be this shameless.
“You want everything, but you don’t want to give anything in return? Are you dreaming or what?”
He added with a warning, “From now on, Ally is my daughter. If anyone dares to show up and bother her again, don’t blame me if I don’t hold back.”
With that, the two of them turned to leave.
Kevin blocked Alicia’s way. “Dad never meant for you to work for free. He just can’t handle you siding with the competition against us.”
He added, stressing his point, “If you want a cut of the profits, just say so. We can help you negotiate with the competition.”
Kevin thought, ‘Ally plays a huge role in that project. Even if she refuses to join us, she can’t just go and work with the competition.’
Alicia rolled her eyes. “Let’s get one thing straight-you guys are the outsiders now, not me.
“I wouldn’t even dare touch your so-called dividends. I’d probably have to lawyer up just to get what’s owed to me.
“From now on, let’s see who’s really got the skills.”
She shot them a meaningful look. “And quit making plans about me.
“Otherwise, who knows-maybe I’ll just sell my six percent to one of the other big players.”
Leo shot up, furious. “Don’t you dare!
Just try selling it and see what happens.”

That was the backbone of the Hammond family.
Alicia let out a mocking laugh and pulled out her phone, dialing a number.
The call connected almost instantly.

She said. “Mr. Harris, about that offer you made a couple of days ago to buy my shares-I’ve thought it over, and I’m open to discussing it.
“How about we meet up and talk it through?”
The person on the other end sounded delighted and agreed right away, suggesting they meet tomorrow and giving her an address and time.
Alicia replied, “Alright, see you tomorrow to discuss it in detail.”
She hung up and shot Leo a cold look. “So, Mr. Hammond, what do you think? Do I have the guts or not?”
She gave him a half-smile. “If Mr. Harris buys my six percent, plus all those scattered shares he’s been picking up, and with his people backing him, he might end up with just as much power in the company as you.
“Unless your three sons hand over their shares to you, then who knows who’s really going to be running Hammond Group.”
She was curious to see if Kevin and his brothers would really hand over their shares to Leo.
Back then, all they cared about was getting her to sign her shares over to Nicole.
Whether Hammond Group ended up in a mess or got taken over, it wasn’t her problem anymore.
After all, she wasn’t a Hammond anymore.
Leo never expected Alicia would really dare to pull this off, and now it looked like she was about to sell her shares to the major shareholder in the company.
And not just any shareholder-she was selling to his biggest rival in the whole company.
He was so furious he nearly fell back in his chair. “Traitor! You rebellious daughter!”
Alicia
gave Leo a dazzling, unapologetic smile. “Appreciate the praise!”
She exchanged a glance with lan, sidestepped Kevin, and strode right out.
Leo turned to watch them leave, and suddenly everything went black-he collapsed into his chair.
Kevin was startled and rushed to catch him. “Dad, what’s wrong?”
He called out to Alicia, “Ally, come here! Dad’s passed out!”
Alicia didn’t even bother to turn around. “Just take him to the hospital. Why drag me into this?
“Relax. Even your beloved stepdaughter couldn’t cry him into the grave, so he’s not dying anytime soon. He’s tougher than you think.”
With those words, she walked out of Kevin’s sight with Ian.
Kevin was stunned into silence.

Chapter 88
What does she mean by “he’s not dying anytime soon, he’s hard to kill”? That’s savage.
She seriously hates Dad now, he realized.
Back in the day, she would’ve never said something so harsh.
If she saw Dad faint, she would’ve freaked out and run over to make sure he was okay.
But now, she didn’t even look back, leaving with icy indifference.
At that moment, Kevin finally understood-Ally was truly done with them for good.
A dull ache settled in his chest, making it hard to breathe, a kind of pain he couldn’t even put into words.

And after hearing Alicia bring up Nicole’s funeral-level crying a few times, Kevin couldn’t help but think that Nicole’s constant sobbing really did bring some bad vibes.
Her endless tears ended up chasing Ally off for good, he thought.
But now wasn’t the time to dwell on that.
Kevin rushed over to steady Leo. “Dad, are you alright? Let me get you to the hospital.”
Leo’s vision had gone black and his ears were ringing, but he hadn’t actually passed out.
Which meant he caught every word Kevin and Alicia said.
He just couldn’t wrap his head around it-how could Alicia be so heartless and cold toward him?
‘If I really collapsed and something happened, would she seriously just not give a damn?’ he wondered.
After catching his breath, Leo clutched Kevin’s hand. “My chest feels tight and hurts, and I’m having trouble breathing. Get me to the hospital.”
Lately, he’d been losing sleep and feeling off ever since Alicia stopped making those custom incense blends for him. And today, all this drama just pushed him over the edge.
Right now, he felt awful all over, and was honestly worried he might really collapse if he went home-so the hospital was the only option.
Seeing how bad Leo looked, Kevin called his dad’s assistant to come along.
With the assistant’s help, they helped Leo out of the restaurant and took him straight to the Delaney family’s hospital.
None of them noticed that, hidden behind a landscaping tree, there was a table with two young guys quietly watching everything.
One of them had his phone out, filming the whole scene from start to finish.
He only stopped recording once Kevin and Leo had left.
He was the heir of the York family, who ran in the same social circles as the Hammond family.
He turned to the guy sitting across from him. “Didn’t expect to get front-row seats to such a show just by coming here for dinner.”

Chapter 83
He was a regular at this restaurant.
Today, he’d invited his friend who’d just come back from overseas to meet up here.
To his surprise, he spotted Alicia and Ian sitting at the table right next to theirs.
He didn’t know Ian personally, but he definitely knew who he was.

Back in the day, the Yates family had even deeper roots and more influence than the Hammond family. But about twenty years ago, they started shifting their focus overseas.
Over the years, the Yates family had thrived abroad.
Ian had been featured in numerous international business magazines.
They’d also heard from their parents that Ian and Leo were known to be romantic rivals.
Since there was just a decorative tree between them, they overheard the whole conversation.
As soon as Leo and Kevin showed up, he pulled out his phone and found a clear spot between the branches to start recording.
He thought he’d catch a bit of drama, but he never expected the show to be this wild.
“Ally is seriously badass. Honestly, she’s got guts,” he said.
Her mouth is savage-she totally roasted her own dad and didn’t pull any punches.
Not gonna lie, that was pretty entertaining.
His folks always played favorites with his younger brother. If he wasn’t the more capable one, he would’ve lost his spot in the family business ages ago.
So yeah, he couldn’t help but resent his parents for that.
But if he wanted to take over the company someday, he just had to suck it up.
Seeing Alicia call out her own dad so ruthlessly that he almost fainted, he couldn’t help but be seriously impressed.
Alicia had always been a legend in their circle-top grades, a pro at racing, and never backed down from a fight.
Even now, she was still a total badass. She cut off her family without blinking and didn’t think twice about putting her dad and brother in their place. Honestly, she really was his idol.
He shot a wink at the handsome, refined guy sitting across from him. “Hey Landon, not only has Alicia cut off the Hammond family, but she’s also totally done with Nicolas Moore. Dude, your window just opened!”
Landon’s lips curled into a sly, meaningful smile. “Why else do you think I came back right now?”
Yeah, I came back for Alicia. No way I was missing this chance, Landon thought to himself.
