Rising From Betrayal Reborn As The Family Outcast novel Chapter 94

Chapter 94

Jason watched Alicia, her eyes shining, and his own gaze softened with a smile.

“We should be hearing about Mavis’s ex-husband soon,” he said.

Then he asked, “Are you planning to bring him back, just like what Haley’s ex did to her?”

Lately, Alicia had been paying people to track down Mavis’s ex-husband, and Jason had chipped in to help out.

Haley’s ex-husband and son were brought back from overseas.

A few days ago, her son contacted the media, crying as he accused Haley of spending money to trick their whole family into going abroad to work in the mines.

Not only did it end up costing his grandparents their lives, but after he finally escaped from the illegal mine, his mom even tried to lure him into doing scams.

Sure, his dad had made some mistakes, but wasn’t the kid innocent in all this?

But Haley was just too cruel-she dragged her own son down with her..

That was why she ended up being such an ungrateful bastard-after getting help from Alicia’s mom, she turned around and stabbed Alicia in the back.

He was only twenty, but he looked haggard and sunburned, way older than his age-more like a man in his thirties.

When he held out his hand, it looked just like a chicken claw-bony, calloused, and weathered.

It was obvious he’d been through a lot over the years.

No one felt sorry for Haley’s ex-husband, but everyone felt bad for her son.

He was just a kid, barely in his teens, and can you believe his own mother sent him off to work in the mines?

She even had people lure her son into scams, basically pushing him off the deep end.

If her son had really gone along with it, a bunch of innocent people would’ve gotten hurt too.

Even her ex-husband’s parents died because of her. Haley really was ruthless-cold-blooded to the core.

Everyone was urging her son to go to the police.

People even flooded Starlight Entertainment’s official X, demanding they give the public an explanation.

Otherwise, they’d be covering for a criminal.

Starlight Entertainment responded right away.

They fired Haley on the spot and hit her with a hefty fine for dragging the company’s name through the mud.

Anyone who joined Starlight, whether as an agent or a star, had to sign a contract with a catch-if you screwed up and cost the company, you’d have to cough up a penalty.

The girls from LUMIA wasted no time posting on X, cutting ties with Haley for good and making it clear they wanted

nothing to do with her.

They insisted they had no clue Haley was behind so many awful things.

They explained that all the beef between them and Alicia was actually set up by Haley from the start.

They had no choice but to do whatever Haley said-otherwise, she’d make their lives hell.

They even went so far as to expose some of Haley’s dirty laundry.

The company had already assigned them a new agent.

But honestly, not many people really bought that they were totally innocent.

All the fame and clout they had before was because Haley was the one who put them on the map.

Haley’s reputation was already in the gutter, so it made sense for them to cut ties. But turning around and throwing her under the bus just made people think they were shady too.

LUMIA’s popularity had already been tanking lately, and this whole mess just made things even worse.

Rumor had it that if they couldn’t keep the group afloat, Starlight Entertainment might just break up LUMIA and let the girls go their separate ways.

People who’d had their opportunities snatched by Haley, along with a bunch of clout-chasers, all jumped at the chance to spill the tea on her shady past.

Thanks to all that, Haley went from being Starlight Entertainment’s top agent to a total pariah-everyone was out for her blood.

Her son actually took everyone’s advice and went to the police, accusing her of child trafficking and neglect.

The police stepped in and started investigating.

Her ex-husband and son even began staking out her apartment complex every day, trying to corner her.

They demanded she compensate them for all the emotional trauma she’d put them through, and cover all the unpaid child support from before he turned eighteen.

Haley was so mad she could’ve gone after them herself-there was no way she’d ever give them a single cent.

Claiming they were there to collect what she owed them, they barged into Haley’s place and just refused to leave.

Haley had always been Starlight’s top agent, always basking in her status and never backing down. But now, her reputation was trashed, and it was hitting her hard.

Her own son had turned on her, and the two people she hated most were now living in her house, driving her up the wall. She was about to lose it.

But honestly, no one felt sorry for her.

It was just like they say-there’s always someone nastier to deal with the wicked. Haley totally brought this on herself.

Alicia’s move to expose her true colors was seriously satisfying.

Alicia smiled. “Honestly, I’m really just after one thing from him, that’s all.

“Having him come back to harass Mavis is pointless anyway-he was abusive to begin with, so he doesn’t deserve any pity.

“And if he ever tries to bother Mavis, my ex-dad would have someone step in to stop him right away?

Jason asked, curious, “So what exactly are you after?”

Alicia replied, “Nicole’s whole thing with writing secret crush diaries on her private X account? She totally learned that from her mom.

“I accidentally found out that Mavis and my ex-dad went to the same middle school, and she had a huge crush on him the whole time.

“Back then, the internet wasn’t a thing, so she couldn’t post her secret crush diaries online. Instead, she just wrote them in a real diary.

“Later, her ex-husband found it, snatched it away, and hid it somewhere.

“After my mom passed away, Mavis started plotting. She roped in some people to set up her ex-husband, got him addicted to gambling, and landed him in massive debt.

“Those debt collectors didn’t just go after her ex-husband-they started hounding her as well.

“And as luck would have it, while she was dodging those debt collectors, she ended up crashing into my ex-dad’s car.

Alicia raised an eyebrow. “You really think a guy like my ex-dad would settle for some ‘model wife and mother’ if she was scheming from day one?

“And once that diary comes out, everyone’s gonna be asking-did those two ever have a thing?

“With his status and looks back then, if he wanted to get married again, he could’ve picked any young woman he fancied. There were tons of girls who would’ve jumped at the chance.

“So why did he go for Mavis? She was just average-looking, had zero background, a messy ex-husband, and a daughter on top of that.

“Were they even in contact before all this? Or were they already seeing each other on the sly?

“After he married her, he treated Mavis and her daughter like queens-spoiling his stepdaughter even more than his real daughter.

“So what if Nicole is actually his secret love child?

“If the Hammond brothers ever catch wind of all this, you think they won’t start wondering if their dad and stepmom had something going on way before the marriage?

“No way they’d be able to stomach it. With all the drama over shares and inheritance, and Collin egging them on, they’d probably try to kick the old man out and take over everything themselves.

“The Hammond family is about to turn into a total circus.”

Alicia grinned. “Mavis’s ex doesn’t even have to go after her-he just needs to vaguely let it slip to everyone that he happened to find her diary.

“He can say he realized she was cheating on him, so he snapped and went off on her.

“Then he can claim Leo basically forced him to divorce Mavis, and he was run out of Solmare, so he had no choice but to skip town.”

Which, to be fair, is actually what happened.

Honestly, the main reason Mavis’s ex lost it was because of that diary.

He started suspecting Mavis was hooking up with Alicia’s ex-dad behind his back, and even began to wonder if Nicole was really his own kid.

“With all that out there, who’s gonna believe Mavis and my ex-dad are totally innocent?”

She shrugged. “I sure don’t.

“Mavis and Nicole are always scheming and using others to go after whoever’s in their way. So of course, I’m just playing their own game against them.”

Her ex-dad cared a lot about his reputation, and he was pretty full of himself.

He fell for Mavis mostly because she showered him with love, doted on him like he was royalty, and basically worshipped the ground he walked on.

He thrived on how Mavis and Nicole were so dependent on him-it was almost unhealthy, but he loved every second of it.

But all that only happened because he was the one who swooped in and rescued Mavis and her daughter to begin with. If he ever found out the whole thing was a scheme, and he’d been tricked into marrying her, it remained uncertain whether he’d still be so willing to pamper and protect them.

He used to have a reputation as a real stand-up guy in their circle, but with this dirt out in the open, his name’s gonna be dragged through the mud.

Guess that’s just how it goes-whatever you care about most is usually the first thing you lose.

Alicia had found out about all this in her last life.

It was only after Mavis’s ex-husband hit rock bottom out of town that he came back, clutching that diary, hoping to trade it for some cash from Mavis.

Mavis acted like she was on board, but secretly got some guys to beat him up and forced him to hand over the diary.

But Alicia had already paid someone to snatch it first, cutting Mavis off before she could get it.

She’d already set things in motion, planning to have that diary exposed for everyone to see.

But before she could see it through, she died.

That’s why she always felt Nicole and her mom got way too lucky in her last life.

She had no idea if the diary ever saw the light of day after she was gone.

Everything she’d left unfinished in her previous life-this time around, Alicia was going to make it happen, no matter what.

She’d make sure her ex-dad, Nicole, and Mavis were in for a wild ride-their lives were about to get a whole lot messier.
