Chapter 97
When Landon showed up, Nicolas and Caleb looked even more pissed.
Nicolas knew Landon had always had a thing for Alicia back in their school days.
Alicia and Landon used to be pretty close, and Nicolas had gone to great lengths to keep them apart.
He even hinted to Dustin that maybe his family should ship Landon overseas.
That way, Landon wouldn’t be much of a threat to Dustin anymore.
And it seemed the Hayes family had the same idea, because they really did send him overseas.
Nicolas never expected Landon to actually come back now.

He figured Landon must’ve heard about the fallout between him and Alicia and was trying to take advantage of the situation.
Nicolas couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of vigilance toward Landon.
Caleb, on the other hand, just plain didn’t like Landon.
For one thing, Caleb was pretty tight with Dustin.
And for another, Landon and Caleb had never gotten along in college-Landon was his biggest rival.
Among young directors overseas, Landon had snagged more awards than Caleb ever had.
Caleb had known that back in school, Alicia had helped Landon out a few times, so the two of them were pretty close.
But he never expected that even after Landon went overseas, they’d still keep in touch-and now, Alicia had even brought Landon along as a guest.
To Caleb, it almost felt like she was deliberately trying to get under his skin.
The host gestured for Alicia and Landon to take their seats. “Please, have a seat over here.”
They walked over to the guest seats, where there were two spots left.
And those seats just happened to be right next to Caleb.
Alicia sat down in the seat next to the one next to Caleb, clearly not wanting to sit right next to him.
Landon, on the other hand, sat down right next to Caleb like it was no big deal.
Landon took the initiative and greeted him with a grin. “Director Caleb, long time no see!”
Just moments ago, Caleb’s eyes had darkened when he saw Alicia purposely leave an empty seat between them.
Caleb gave a stiff, insincere smile as he replied, “Director Landon, long time no see!”
ett’s voice rang out. “Wow, that was the fakest greeting I’ve ever seen.”
Landon arched an eyebrow at him. “Oh? Then how do you think we should say hi?”

Jett grinned. “You should just start roasting each other the moment you meet
Caleb realized Jett was just here to stir the pot. “We’re not as uncivilized as you”
Jett shot him a look. “Come on, Director Caleb, you must be blind. I’m always the picture of refinement.”
Caleb and Landon just stared at him, speechless.
This guy is seriously shameless, they both thought.
Neither of them bothered to respond.
Jett turned to Alicia. “Well, if it isn’t Alicia-the undefeated queen of our school!”
He really did show up.]
Is this guy here to be on the show, or just here to make everyone hate him?
Alicia’s that badass? She was unbeatable at school?]
[Things are about to get good. Let’s see how Alicia schools him.]
Alicia knew Jett was about to talk trash.
She shot him a look. “What, did they just let you out of the psych ward?”
Jett grinned. “Didn’t you graduate from Solmare Medical College? Can’t you tell if I’m crazy or not?”
Alicia looked him up and down. “Yeah, I checked. You’re definitely not right in the head.”
Jett raised an eyebrow. “Oh yeah? What’s my diagnosis?”
Alicia replied, “You’re all bark and no bite, running on empty. Seriously, you’re running on fumes!”
She wasn’t just roasting Jett; with her medical background, she could diagnose him at a glance.
She couldn’t figure out how someone so loud and chaotic could be so drained inside.
Her words made Caleb and the others burst out laughing.
‘Only Alicia could pull that off, they all thought.
Instead of getting mad, Jett just stood up, dragged his chair over, and plopped down right next to Alicia.

He held out his hand. “Alright, then. Go ahead and check my pulse. Tell me what’s wrong with me and how to fix it.”
Everyone just stared at him, speechless.
‘Wait, is this guy actually that frail?’ they all thought.
Alicia was actually a little curious about what was really going on with Jett’s health.
She reached out and checked his pulse. “You run your mouth all day and never stop talking trash-how do you still end up mentally exhausted from all that internal drama?”
From his pulse, she could tell he’d been under constant mental pressure for a long time, never able to let it out, and it had

seriously drained his vitality.

In her previous life, Alicia had also noticed just by looking at his face that he looked tough on the outside but was a mess inside, with even worse emotional issues than now.
But since he was always picking fights with her, she never bothered to check him out in detail.
Jett pouted. “When I was a kid, my nanny treated me so badly I basically became a shut-in. Once I got better, I had to make up for all those years I didn’t get to talk, right?”
He shrugged. “Honestly, if you want to blame someone, blame my parents-they were too busy living their own lives to even
notice me.”
Nicolas and the others winced at his words.
‘This guy is seriously nuts. Not only does he run his mouth and stir up drama, but he’s out here airing his family’s dirty laundry for everyone to see, they all thought.
But honestly, he’s just a product of his family spoiling him rotten.
Everyone in their social circle knew Jett had a history of being a shut-in.
His parents’ marriage was just a business arrangement, and after they had their first son, his dad started keeping a few mistresses on the side.
Not to be outdone, his mom started keeping a few toyboys herself behind his back.
Then, out of nowhere, his mom ended up pregnant with Jett.
After Jett was born, his dad even went so far as to get a paternity test just to make sure he was really his son.
But even after that, they just kept living their own lives, both too busy with their careers to care about Jett, so they just dumped him on the nanny.
The nanny was a young woman from his mom’s side of the family, studying pediatric nursing.
But after she met his dad, she started scheming to get into his bed.
Sometimes she’d even make Jett sick on purpose just so she’d have an excuse to call his dad home.
But his dad wasn’t interested in messing around with someone so close to home, so he barely ever came back.
So the nanny started blaming Jett, thinking he was the reason she couldn’t get the attention she wanted.
She put on a sweet face in front of everyone, but behind closed doors, she was downright cruel to him.
She never hit him, but she gave him the silent treatment and constantly messed with his head.
By the time his parents finally realized something was off, Jett was already suffering from severe autism.
For the first time ever, their guilt actually made them start acting like real parents.
After that, they personally took Jett from clinic to clinic, hoping to find someone who could help him.
They stopped living their wild lives and spent a lot more time with him.

PWM.
Eventually, they found some legendary doctor who actually managed to cure Jett’s autism.
Surprisingly, while they were looking after Jett, his parents actually started acting like a real couple for once.
They ditched all their side chicks and boy toys, cleaned up their act, and became the model husband and wife.
After that, they spoiled Jett like crazy and let him do whatever he wanted.

So Jett went from one extreme to the other-from never saying a word to never shutting up and roasting everyone in sight.
Alicia could sense that when Jett mentioned his parents, there wasn’t any real resentment in his tone.
And in her previous life, she’d seen the way the three of them got along-his parents’ affection for Jett was genuine, not just for show.
Jett once tried to set Alicia up-he planned to spike her drink, trap her in a hotel room, and make sure Nicolas walked in on her to bust her red-handed.
But Alicia gave him a serious beatdown before he could even try anything.
Once Nicolas got wind of it, he sent his crew to teach Jett a lesson.
Alicia knew when to stop, but those guys didn’t hold back at all.
Jett got messed up so bad he had to spend some time in the hospital before he was back on his feet.
Jett’s family felt really bad for him and got super protective, and thanks to that whole mess, they ended up going head-to- head with the Moore family.
But Alicia felt like Jett’s mental issues didn’t really have much to do with his parents.
“This guy’s definitely hiding something, she thought.
Now that she thought about it, Jett had always seemed a little off in her previous life.
And even his pulse was strange, like he’d been hit by some outside force.
‘Did he really just ask me to check his health out of nowhere, or is he up to something?’ Alicia wondered.
She said, “You’ve got a pretty complicated case. Let’s get your health stabilized first, then we can tackle those internal issues.”
‘Next time I get a chance, I’ll have to dig a little deeper and see if there’s really some weird outside force messing with him,” Alicia thought.
Jett drawled lazily, “Guess I can’t let you treat me, then.
“What if you hang around me too much and end up catching feelings?”
Alicia just stared at him, speechless.
‘See? Give this guy an inch and he’ll take a mile,’ she thought.
She shot him a look. “Relax-even if I decided to swing that way, you’d still be at the bottom of my list.”
Jett raised an eyebrow. “Aw, poor you.
