“Edward, why are you even explaining anything to her? She’s not part of this family anymore. She shouldn’t be here,” Harper said, her voice thick with irritation.
“Arabella, if you don’t leave now, I’ll have Dylan make you leave.” Harper glared at Arabella, her eyes cold and unwelcoming.
“Yeah, just get out of here,” Dylan chimed in, urging her to go.
“Enough! Neither of you is in charge here,” Edward snapped, his tone leaving no room for
argument.
Harper pouted, giving Edward a wounded look. “Edward, why are you still defending her? If this jinx hadn’t gone back to the Macdonalds, none of this would have happened to our family!”
“Stop talking nonsense! What happened to the Macdonalds has nothing to do with Arabella.” Edward raised his voice, cutting her off sharply.
“It’s not nonsense…” Harper muttered, shooting another hateful glance toward Arabella.
Arabella felt a wave of disgust at Harper’s act and couldn’t hold back a cold laugh. “Harper, did you swallow something nasty before coming here? Because you’re sure spouting a lot of garbage.”
“How dare you talk to me like that!” Harper pointed a trembling finger at Arabella, shocked at the crude insult.
Arabella didn’t give her the time of day and went on, “I’m not talking to a person–I’m talking to you. And all of you should really think hard about why the Macdonald family fell apart.
“You’re all incapable of handling your own business, yet you go around making enemies without even knowing who you’ve crossed. It’s no wonder the family went bankrupt–you had it coming.” Arabella finished, feeling a sense of release after speaking her mind.
Harper had come asking for trouble today, and she’d gotten it.
“Edward, did you hear that? She just admitted she ruined the Macdonalds!” Harper exclaimed.
“Well done, Arabella. I knew you were behind the Macdonalds‘ downfall. Now you’ve said it yourself,” Harper seethed, her eyes burning with anger. “Tell me! Did you team up with the Gellars to destroy us?”

Arabella didn’t even bother looking at her, replying with a sneer, “A wannabe detective with a half–baked brain. How pathetic.”
“You’re insulting me again! I’ll teach you a lesson right now!”
Harper lunged viciously, aiming straight for Arabella’s face, determined to claw it to shreds.
Arabella sidestepped smoothly, and Harper crashed face–first into the chair behind her. Then, with a swift motion, Arabella kicked Harper onto the floor and pressed a foot down on her back. “You’re the first person who’s ever dared to lay a hand on me.”
Seeing Harper pinned under Arabella’s shoe, Dylan charged forward, grabbing for Arabella’s hair.
“Arabella, watch out!” Edward shouted, his voice tense.
Just as Arabella turned to evade Dylan’s grasp, a tall figure stepped in front of her. In the next instant, Dylan was sent stumbling backward before landing hard on the floor.
It was Matthew, now standing protectively before Arabella.
“Are you all right?” he asked, his voice unusually soft.
“I’m fine,” Arabella replied, glancing at him briefly before lifting her foot off Harper.
“Who the hell are you? How dare you hit me!” Dylan hadn’t even seen clearly who struck him. He struggled to his feet, glowering at Matthew’s back.
Matthew didn’t spare him a glance, his deep eyes fixed on Arabella. “As long as you’re okay.” Harper scrambled up and rushed to Dylan’s side. “Dylan, are you hurt? Is anything broken?” “My chest… It hurts,” Dylan winced, clutching the spot.
Hearing that, Harper turned her furious gaze back to Arabella. “You think you’re so tough, bringing a bodyguard to pick on people? Look what you did to Dylan–you’re paying his medical bills.”
“Yeah, you’re covering my hospital costs,” Dylan demanded, his voice rising.
“Dylan, cut the act! Just take Harper and leave,” Edward said angrily, offended by their blatant attempt at extortion.
Harper shot Edward a resentful look. “Edward, you can’t keep taking her side! Look what they did to Dylan–they should be held responsible!”

“Dylan, have some dignity!” Edward was at his wit’s end, sinking back against the hospital bed in frustration.
“Edward, don’t let them upset you. It’s not worth it,” Arabella said, not wanting to engage with them further. She walked over to Edward’s bedside to calm him.
Seeing that Arabella was unharmed, Matthew finally turned a frosty gaze toward the noisy pair.
His voice turned icy. “You want to be hospitalized? I’ll arrange that for you right now.”
“Andy,” Matthew signaled with a look.
Andy understood immediately. With an impassive expression, he walked over to Dylan and Harper. “A broken arm or a broken leg–your choice.”
Dylan and Harper paled, sweat beading on their foreheads. They’d never encountered someone who could deliver such a threat so calmly.
It was then that Dylan vaguely recognized Andy. He seemed familiar… Dylan’s eyes widened slightly as he ventured cautiously, “You… Aren’t you the president’s assistant at Horizon Corp?”
Andy gave him a cold glance. “Do I know you?”
