She had been considering merging her previous independent research lab with this facility. If Ethan became a major investor, it would complicate her plans and control over the future. direction…
“Of course I’m sure,” Ethan reaffirmed.
“You should really think this through. Funding a major expansion isn’t a trivial decision–it requires significant capital and a long–term commitment. You need to consider all the implications,” Arabella urged, hoping to dissuade him.
“Don’t worry about the resources or the commitment. Just tell me if you’re willing to accept my investment,” Ethan pressed, his gaze expectant.
Arabella’s brow furrowed slightly as she weighed the situation. An outright rejection would undoubtedly upset him. But accepting would create layers of future complications…
After a moment of silent calculation, she said, “Ethan, I need to discuss this with Grandpa first. Give me a few days.”
“Alright. I’ll wait for your answer,” Ethan said, rising from his chair to leave.
“Okay.”
“Oh, and this office décor feels a bit last decade. I’ll have my design team come in and refresh it for you,” Ethan added, his eyes warm with affection.
“Sure, that would be wonderful. Thank you, Ethan.” She was perfectly happy to delegate the interior design.
“Still being formal with me?” Ethan gave her a mock–stern look.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Arabella replied with a light smile.
Ethan then picked up the desk phone and instructed his assistant, “Please have all department heads and team leads assemble in the main conference room.”
Arabella looked at him curiously. “Ethan, what’s the meeting for?”
“You’re new here, and practically no one in the company knows who you are. It’s time for a proper introduction. I’d prefer to avoid any more… unfortunate misunderstandings,” he said, his tone gentle yet firm.

“By the way,” Arabella changed the subject, “do you have access to any other vehicles?” She recalled Edward’s pointed questions about her car.
“Of course. Why? Isn’t the one I gave you comfortable?” Ethan asked, concerned.
“The car is fantastic. It’s just a bit too… noticeable for my daily needs. I’d prefer something more low–profile,” Arabella explained.
“Low–profile cars aren’t really in my collection,” Ethan admitted with a slight shrug. His garage was filled with sports cars and luxury sedans–nothing remotely ordinary.
“Oh, I see. Never mind, then. I’ll sort something out myself,” Arabella said, realizing she would probably need to make her own purchase.
“You don’t need to sort anything out. I’ll handle it,” Ethan stated decisively. He might not own a modest car, but he could certainly acquire one for her.
“But you just said you don’t have one,” Arabella pointed out, surprised.
“Consider it handled. I’ll have it delivered to Cloudrise Manor,” Ethan said, his fondness for her
evident in his tone.
“Alright.”
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Ethan’s assistant entered.
“Mr. Hamilton, everyone has gathered in the conference room as requested.”
“Good.
“Arabella, shall we?” Ethan gestured toward the door.
“Let’s go.”
In the main conference room, whispers circulated among the assembled managers and team leads. News of the receptionist’s very public firing had already spread.
“Henry, what’s all the hushed chatter about?” Bruce Clement leaned over and asked.
“Haven’t you heard? We’re apparently getting a new owner dropped on us,” Henry Kent replied, keeping his voice low.
“A new owner? Seriously? I hadn’t heard a thing,” Bruce said, his forehead creasing.

“You! Always buried in your petri dishes. You never pay attention to the company grapevine,” Henry sighed.
“I have enough to focus on in the lab. Office politics isn’t my concern,” Bruce retorted.
“But is it true?” Bruce asked, still skeptical.
“Absolutely true. And I heard it’s a woman!” Henry added with a raised eyebrow.
“A woman? Is she qualified?” Bruce couldn’t hide his doubt.
“Who knows about her qualifications, but I heard she’s quite a character.”
“That’s right,” Eliot Cook chimed in. “The word is she showed up today, the front desk didn’t recognize her and gave her attitude, and she had the woman fired on the spot!”
“Really? Just like that?” Bruce was now thoroughly perplexed.
“Without a second thought…”
Their conversation was cut short as the conference room door swung open.
Ethan entered with his characteristically confident stride.
The room fell silent instantly. Everyone straightened up, their full attention fixed on him.
Then, Arabella stepped into view behind him.
The moment the staff laid eyes on her, a wave of palpable surprise swept through the room. This had to be the new female owner–and she certainly carried an air of authority.
But she looked so young…
Could someone her age really run a company like this?
Ethan noted their stunned expressions. Instead of taking the seat at the head of the table himself, he stood beside it and gestured for Arabella to take the central position.
Then he addressed the room. “Everyone, I’d like to introduce you to the new owner of Hamilton Pharmaceuticals, Ms. Arabella Hamilton.
“Arabella, would
you
like to say a few words?” Ethan looked to her, giving her the floor.
“I would,” Arabella said, her voice clear and steady.

Hearing Ethan refer to their new boss with such familiar ease, the employees exchanged quick, knowing glances, reassessing the dynamic between the two.
Ah, of course. A Hamilton. That explains the clout at such a young age.
Henry shot a meaningful look at Eliot. No wonder she could make such a decisive move immediately–she had the ultimate backing.
