Chapter 105 Purging the Ranks
Chapter 105 Purging the Ranks
“Let’s go upstairs first.”
“Not so fast. There’s something I want to handle first.” Arabella’s gaze landed on the receptionist, who was now drenched in a cold sweat.
Ethan frowned slightly, looking at Arabella with curiosity. “What needs handling?”

He then followed her line of sight to the trembling woman at the front desk. “What exactly happened down here?” Ethan asked, his expression turning stern.
Put on the spot, the receptionist stood frozen, stammering incoherently. “Earlier… I… She…”
Watching her struggle in fear, a faint, satisfied smile touched the corner of Arabella’s lips.
“Spit it out. Can’t even get a full sentence out?” Ethan’s flat, unimpressed tone was enough to send a chill through the receptionist and everyone else within earshot.
“I’m so sorry, Mr. Hamilton! I’m sorry, Miss! I didn’t know who you were. It was all my fault earlier, completely my fault. It will never happen again. Please, Mr. Hamilton, don’t fire me!” the receptionist pleaded desperately, her voice cracking with oncoming tears.
Listening to her frantic begging and taking in Arabella’s icy demeanor, Ethan pieced the situation together instantly.
His face grew colder. “Even if you didn’t recognize her, does that give you an excuse to ignore basic professionalism and common courtesy?
“We can’t keep someone with your attitude here. You’re a liability.” Ethan’s meaning was unmistakable.
The receptionist rushed forward, tears streaming. “Mr. Hamilton, it was a one–time mistake, I swear! Please give me another chance! I promise it won’t ever happen again!”
“Did you not hear me? Get your things and leave. Now,” Ethan snapped, his patience gone.
Seeing that pleading with Ethan was futile, the receptionist turned her desperate eyes to Arabella.
“Please, have some mercy! Let me off just this once! I won’t ever dare to do it again!”
Arabella gave her a chilling look. “You seemed plenty confident earlier. I don’t think you need my mercy.”

Hearing this, the receptionist shook her head vigorously from side to side.

Then, Arabella swept her cold gaze over the other staff members who had gathered. She raised her voice so all could hear. “Let this be clear to everyone. I’m not here to dredge up past behavior, but from this moment forward, in this company, there are no second chances for unprofessional conduct. She is your example.
“Security, ensure she collects her personal items and escort her from the building. Make sure she does not return.” With a final, stern look, Arabella finished giving her orders and turned toward the elevators.
“Yes.”
“Please! I know I was wrong, I really do…” No matter how desperately the receptionist cried out, Arabella didn’t look back.
“You heard the boss. Go pack up your desk,” a security guard said, his tone now firm.
Having just witnessed the new owner’s decisive style, no one dared to hesitate.
The receptionist shot the guard a venomous look. “So quick to turn on someone, huh? Have you all forgotten the favors I did for you?”
“Doesn’t matter now. The new boss gave an order. If we don’t follow it, we’ll be the ones looking for jobs.”
“Don’t make this harder than it has to be. Just go.”
“Hmph! You’ll get yours someday, too.”

Ethan looked at Arabella, a spark of admiration in his eyes. “I have to say, Arabella, you really made an impression. What you said down there took me by surprise.”
“Nothing surprising about it. The sooner you remove a rotten apple, the better for the whole barrel.
“Lucky I came by today. Otherwise, I might never have known the front desk had such a terrible attitude. It’s terrible for the company’s image,” Arabella said with a sigh.
“On your first unofficial day here, you’ve already solved a long–overlooked problem. Impressive.” Ethan couldn’t help but praise.
“Don’t flatter me. What we saw today might just be the surface. The real problems are likely

“Maybe you have some ideas on how to handle it?” Arabella tossed the question back to him.
“You’re plenty capable yourself. Something like this should be well within your skills. If I step in now, wouldn’t I just be stealing your chance to establish yourself?” He didn’t want to undermine her. The company was hers now, and she needed to build her authority from the
start.
“Sure, sure,” Arabella said, waving a hand. “So, what did you need me here for today?” Ethan picked up a thick folder of architectural plans from the desk and handed it to her.
“What’s this?” Arabella asked, accepting it.
“These are the development and expansion plans for the company,” Ethan said with a slight, encouraging smile.
“Expansion plans? Is Grandpa planning to expand?” Arabella asked, looking at him in surprise.
“Not Grandpa. I’m the one backing the expansion.”
“You? Why?” Arabella didn’t understand.
“Because I recognize your talent, of course. If you’re qualified to be Robert’s attending physician, your medical expertise is clearly exceptional. This company is too small in its current state. It needs to grow for someone with your abilities to truly make their mark.”
“You have that much faith in me? What if I’m not as capable as you think? Your investment would just go down the drain,” Arabella said, a playful but pointed challenge in her tone.
Ethan’s smile remained steady. “I’m an excellent judge of character.”
His eyes held absolute certainty.
Seeing that Ethan was completely serious, Arabella’s own expression grew more solemn. “You’re really that sure?”
