“Alright, take a break then,” Lucas said, a touch of helplessness in his voice.
Hadn’t she just claimed she was ready for practical flight training?
How come she couldn’t even handle the simulator now?
Lucas concluded Naomi needed more simulator time and wasn’t yet prepared for the cockpit.
But he didn’t press the issue too harshly–after all, he was just covering for Kyle. How well she progressed wasn’t ultimately his responsibility.

In the ground school classroom, Eric quickly wrapped up the key topics for the day.
He looked at the small group of students. “That’s all for today’s session. You’re dismissed.”
Then, Eric walked over to Arabella and asked kindly, “What’s your name, new trainee?”
“Arabella.”
Eric gave a slight nod. “Did you follow everything I covered today?”
“Yes, I did,” Arabella replied, her expression neutral.
Looking at the composed young woman, Eric assumed she must have some connection to Lucas.
“That’s good. If anything comes up later that you don’t understand, make sure to ask me right
away.
“I’ll be heading out now,” Eric said with a professional smile.
“Alright,” Arabella acknowledged with a nod.
She then gathered her notebook and pen and walked out into the hallway.
Outside, she nearly bumped into Lucas.
Seeing it was Arabella, Lucas asked, “Did you manage to keep up with Eric’s lesson?”
Arabella didn’t speak, simply nodding in response.

Lucas watched her silent reply, and a hint of pity crossed his features.

Then he said, half to himself, “Such a pretty face… what a shame if you couldn’t speak.”
Hearing his words, Arabella frowned slightly and looked directly at him. “Do you have to be so rude? Who said I can’t speak?”
Arabella’s sudden, clear speech left Lucas momentarily stunned.
“You… you can talk?!”
“Is that so strange?” Arabella gave him an exasperated look.
“Then why didn’t you say anything earlier?” Lucas asked, genuinely curious.
“I didn’t feel like it. Is that allowed?” Arabella shot back coolly.
“Anything else? If not, I’m leaving.” Arabella had no intention of wasting more time on this exchange.
“Where are you going? Are you done for the day already?” Lucas asked, stopping her.
“Eric said the class is finished,” Arabella replied flatly.
“Already? That seems awfully quick…” Lucas looked skeptical.
“Maybe his teaching pace is different from what you’re used to. Tell you what–don’t leave yet. I’ll go over the foundational theory with you properly in a bit,” Lucas said, his tone turning
serious.
Seeing his earnest demeanor, Arabella reluctantly agreed. “Fine.”
Just then, Naomi emerged from the simulator room looking for Lucas.
Spotting him with Arabella, she walked over. “Lucas, what are you two discussing?”
Arabella watched Naomi approach but didn’t acknowledge her.
Lucas said, “Finished your break?”
“Yes,” Naomi replied.
“Then get back to your simulator practice,” Lucas instructed.
“Alright.”

But Naomi didn’t move immediately. Instead, she turned to Arabella. “How’s the theory going, Arabella?”
Arabella ignored Naomi and looked at Lucas. “Where should I go to study?”
“Follow me,” Lucas said, starting to lead Arabella away.
Seeing Lucas about to leave with Arabella, Naomi spoke up, “Lucas, aren’t you supposed to be instructing me?”
Lucas looked at Naomi, feeling a little cornered.
They were at completely different stages. Kyle had really dumped both students on him at once. Wasn’t that asking a bit much?
Suddenly, an idea struck him. “Arabella, come with me.”
He then led both Arabella and Naomi back into the large simulator training room.
Addressing Naomi, he said, “You practice the sequence I just showed you here. Call me over if you hit a snag.”
Once that was settled, he guided Arabella to a separate console on the other side of the room.
Watching Lucas take Arabella away, Naomi felt a spike of irritation.
She had finally gotten a handsome, highly–rated instructor.
Why did Arabella always seem to divert attention wherever she went?
“I’ll start you from the very beginning,” Lucas said to Arabella.
“That won’t be necessary. I’ve already self–studied the fundamentals. Just cover the advanced key points with me,” Arabella replied calmly.
“Okay, then let’s dive into the core concepts,” Lucas said, his mood lifting.
Every gesture he made as he set up the training module was relaxed and confident.
“Lucas, I’ve forgotten part of the sequence here. Can you come help me?” Naomi’s voice called out from across the room.
In the middle of explaining a complex concept to Arabella, Lucas heard Naomi and glanced
over.

He then turned back to Arabella. “Keep reviewing the material on your screen. I’ll be back in a
minute.”
With that, Lucas walked over to Naomi.
“What’s the trouble?” Lucas asked as he reached her simulator pod.
Naomi pointed to a cluster of buttons on the overhead panel. “Lucas, I’m a bit fuzzy on the logic for this section.”
“These toggles need to be engaged in a specific cascade…” Lucas began explaining patiently.
As she listened, Naomi’s gaze drifted from the controls to Lucas‘ sharply defined profile.
For a moment, she found herself distracted by his handsome features.
While Lucas was pointing at a diagram on the auxiliary screen, he suddenly became aware of an intense gaze fixed on him.
He glanced sideways at Naomi–just as her eyes met his.
