Chapter 126 An Unexpected Ride
“What’s up?” Lucas asked, noticing her gaze.
“Nothing,” Naomi replied, quickly turning her slightly flushed face away.
“Did you catch all that?” Lucas asked, referring to his instructions.
Naomi had been so distracted by his appearance that she’d barely registered his words.
She answered a bit awkwardly, “Lucas, could you go over it one more time? I didn’t quite get it all.”

Lucas‘ brow furrowed slightly as he looked at her. He let out a quiet, resigned sigh before launching into the explanation again.
“All clear now?” he asked once he’d finished.
Naomi nodded. “Yes, thanks.”
“Good. Keep practicing, then,” Luca
said before walking back over to Arabella.
“How are you getting on?” he asked her.
“I’m about halfway through the module,” Arabella replied calmly.
Lucas was taken aback.
“You’re halfway through already? Seriously?” He’d never seen anyone absorb the material so quickly.
He was almost skeptical.
“Let me check,” Lucas said, leaning over to look at the digital manual on her screen. “You really are. I didn’t expect you to pick it up
this fast.
“But do you actually understand all these concepts?” he pressed, his tone serious.
“I do. You can move on,” Arabella replied, her confidence making her sound almost like the instructor.
A faint, amused smile touched Lucas‘ lips. “Alright then, let’s keep going.”
As time passed, Lucas guided her through the remaining key points.
“That covers the core theory. Make sure you review this section when you get home,” Lucas advised.
Just as he finished speaking, Naomi’s voice called out from across the room again.
“Lucas, can you come here for a second?”
Lucas shot a slightly impatient glance in her direction. “Give me a minute.”
Arabella had already figured out Naomi’s game–she was just there to stir up distractions.
“You should go. I’m heading out now,” Arabella said, closing the manual on her screen.

“Okay. Will you be back tomorrow?” Lucas asked, the question coming out almost instinctively.
The moment he said it, he wondered if it was too forward.
“Maybe. See you,” Arabella said, offering a brief nod before turning to leave.
Naomi watched Arabella walk out, a subtle, satisfied smile playing on her lips.
Lucas waited until Arabella was gone before making his way back to Naomi.
“What do you need now?” he asked, keeping his tone professional.
“Lucas, I think I’ve got the sequence down. I wanted you to watch my run–through,” Naomi said softly.
“Sure, go ahead and start it up,” Lucas replied.
“Okay,” Naomi said, initiating the simulation sequence.
Just then, Kyle walked back into the training room.
He saw Lucas instructing Naomi and scanned the area, but didn’t see Arabella anywhere.
He approached Lucas. “Lucas, where’s Ms. Hamilton?”
“She wrapped up and left a few minutes ago.”
“Since you’re back, you can take over here,” Lucas said, making a move to leave.
But Kyle stopped him. “Lucas, was Ms. Hamilton satisfied with the session?”
Lucas gave a slight shrug. “Seemed like it, yeah.
“Anyway, I’m clocking out.”
Meanwhile, Arabella was standing outside the main entrance of the flight academy, waiting for a ride.
Ethan had indeed left without a word, leaving her to try and hail a cab on a relatively quiet street.

As Lucas drove out of the parking lot in his sleek sedan, he spotted Arabella waiting by the curb and pulled over beside her.
“Fancy meeting you here. Need a lift somewhere?” he asked, rolling down the passenger window.
Seeing it was Lucas, Arabella replied, “I’m heading to the hospital.”
Lucas‘ expression shifted to one of concern. “Are you hurt?”
“No, I’m just visiting someone,” Arabella clarified.
“Oh, right. Look, taxis are pretty scarce around this area. Which hospital? I can drop you off–it’s no trouble,” Lucas offered, his tone friendly.
Arabella wasn’t keen on accepting favors, but after another glance down the empty road confirmed no taxi was coming, she looked
back at him.

“Alright, thanks. I appreciate it.”
“Don’t mention it. It’s on my way,” Lucas said with an easy smile. “So, which hospital?”
“Kindwell Hospital. Is that really on your route?” Arabella asked politely.
“Kindwell?” Lucas repeated, a flicker of surprise in his voice.
“Is something wrong?” Arabella looked at him.

“No, not at all. Hop in,” Lucas said, unlocking the doors. Arabella got in and buckled up before Lucas merged back into traffic, heading toward Kindwell.
In the car, Lucas naturally struck up conversation to fill the quiet.
“Visiting a friend?” he asked, finding the silence a bit awkward.
“Not exactly,” Arabella replied. –
“If not a friend, then… family?” Lucas ventured.
“Something like that,” Arabella said noncommittally.
“If you don’t mind me asking, is it serious? I know a few people at Kindwell–specialists, I mean–if you need any connections,” Lucas offered warmly.
Arabella hadn’t expected Lucas, who came across as the cool, handsome instructor type, to be so genuinely kind.
“It’s nothing urgent, just some routine follow–up care.
“But thank you for the offer,” she added politely.
It was the first time a near–stranger had shown her such considerate concern.
