“That’s right.” Frank nodded, saying nothing more on the matter.
Naomi was usually very reasonable. She would understand.
Besides, even he felt Arabella was the most fitting person for that room.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to Frank, and he asked with a hint of concern, “It’s wonderful that my sister is home, but have you been absolutely thorough with the DNA verification?”
After the previous mix–up, they couldn’t afford another mistake.
“What? Are you still worried we might have the wrong person?” Florence asked, picking up on his implication.
“A little,” Frank admitted playfully, not hiding his lingering doubt.
“Oh, you’ll see for yourself soon enough. Arabella looks so much like me–she’s definitely my daughter. There’s no question about it.”
When Florence mentioned her daughter’s striking resemblance, her face glowed with maternal pride.
“Hearing you say that only makes me more eager to meet my sister,” Frank replied with genuine interest.
“No need to rush. She just came in from outside. Let her settle for a bit; she should be down soon,” Florence estimated. Then, turning her attention to Frank, she added, “You just got off a flight yourself. Go up to your room and rest. I’ll call you when your sister comes down.”
“Alright. I am pretty tired. I’ll head up first, then Frank said. He had been traveling for several days and was indeed worn out, so he went straight upstairs.
As he climbed the stairs, a thought lingered. Should I prepare a welcome gift for my sister, now that she is home?
While considering, he took out his phone and called his assistant. “Hello? Please arrange for the finest luxury sedan available–have it customized with the initials ‘AH‘ and delivered to Cloudrise Manor.”
The sun was shining brightly, and a gentle breeze drifted through the air.
Meanwhile, Naomi drove hastily to Ruby’s home
Seeing Naomi’s disheveled appearance, Ruby was taken aback and asked with concern,

“Naomi, are you alright?”
Naomi walked wordlessly into the living room. Her expression blank
Sensing the heavy atmosphere, Ruby quickly followed her inside.
Once seated, Naomi glanced around the room. Where are your parents?”
“They’re out on business. I’m home alone, Ruby answered carefully.
She had never seen Naomi so visibly drained before. It was clear something had hurt her deeply.
Noting the redness around Naomi’s eyes, Ruby gently probed, “Naomi, what happened? Weren’t you at Hamilton Manor? You seem…. really upset.”
Every other time Naomi visited her grandparents, she returned in high spirits. What was different this time?
Ruby was intensely curious and eager to understand.
But at Ruby’s question, Naomi’s already red–rimmed eyes welled up with fresh tears.
“Matthew… He wants to end the engagement, Naomi said, her voice trembling slightly. Then the tears began to fall steadily.
“What?! End the engagement?!”
“So suddenly!” Ruby had never imagined something like this could happen.
It seemed her earlier worries hadn’t been unfounded.
Ruby pressed further, “Did Matthew tell you himself?”
Naomi shook her head. “No… he came to Hamilton Manor to say it,”
“What?!” Ruby felt as if she’d been struck by lightning.
“You mean Matthew brought it up in front of everyone?”
Naomi stayed silent, offering no answer, her tears continuing to fall one by one.
That’s just… cruel.”
Ruby sat beside Naomi, her own eyes wide with shock.
No wonder Naomi was so heartbroken. This was a public rejection–a slap in the face.

And Arabella had been there to witness it.
“Matthew is utterly heartless! After all you’ve done for him, to do something like that publicly… It’s just cold,” Ruby said indignantly on Naomi’s behalf.

“So does that mean Arabella knows?” Like Naomi, Ruby had hoped Arabella wouldn’t learn about the arrangement with Matthew.
“Not only does she know, but she left with him,” Naomi said dully, her eyes losing their usual sparkle at the mention.
“They left together? What’s going on? Do Matthew and Arabella know each other?” Ruby asked, unable to believe it.
“It seems they’ve been acquainted for a while…”
“For a while?!”
“Goodness… She hid that well!” Ruby narrowed her eyes thoughtfully.
“I was naive to think that as long as Arabella didn’t compete for Matthew’s attention, I could treat her as a real sister.
“Now it’s clear I was too trusting. She must have approached him long ago…” Naomi murmured, lost in her thoughts.
“Arabella is so calculating. It seems we underestimated her before!” Ruby said angrily.
She had originally wanted to help Naomi secure her place with Matthew before Arabella became a factor.
Now that seemed impossible…
If Matthew had publicly declared his intention to end the understanding, there was probably little chance of mending things…
“Naomi, what’s done is done. Please don’t grieve too much. It seems getting closer to Matthew isn’t an option anymore. We’ll have to think of another approach.”
