Chapter 107 The Only Proven Method
Darren’s eyes went wide the moment she finished speaking.
He stared straight at Stella, utterly stunned.
Darren questioned in shock, “What did you just say? You cut that flesh out on purpose?”
Christopher frowned deeply. “What harm was there in that?”

Jasper pressed anxiously, “Mr. Kingston, is his arm truly beyond saving? Did cutting out the dead flesh accomplish nothing at all?”
Stella added quickly, “The royal doctor approved my method. He said the arm could not be saved either way, so it was worth a try.”
Darren wiped the sweat from his brow; his words were blunt. “The royal doctors have very limited skill. They can’t cure it, but I can.
“This deadly poison spreads through open wounds. The original injury was small–only a faint patch of discoloration after days of slow infection. You mistook that poisoned skin for rotting flesh and cut it all away. That reckless choice made the poison spread far faster through his whole body.”
He looked at Christopher with a grave, heavy expression. “If you’d come to me in time without that unnecessary cutting, I could have saved your arm for certain. Now that the flesh has been torn and scraped apart, even a full year or more of steady treatment may not be enough to keep it…”
The three people in the room froze in collective shock at his words.
Stella stumbled back one step, her face turning ashen. “That cannot be. I learned this method from my
master…”
“Either your master lacks proper skill, or you failed to learn his craft well.” Darren did not hold back his criticism as he continued with acupuncture. “To act blindly with no real understanding–you nearly cost Crown Prince Christopher his life.”
Christopher’s gaze darkened with tangled pain and regret.
Every bit of agony I suffered was completely unnecessary.
I could have kept my arm safe and whole, yet their careless actions broke all hope.
His emotions crashed over him in waves, and he could not utter a single word.
Stella grew frantic, desperate to defend herself, yet Darren ignored her completely. He focused solely on his acupuncture and would not even glance in her direction.
She was panicked with worry.
Why is he speaking to me like this?
Jasper said he planned to invite me to join Life Preserve Pavilion.

Is this how he treats new prospects?
Are all skilled doctors this strange and ill–tempered?
She shot a helpless, pleading look toward Jasper.
Jasper snapped out of his shock at once and hurried to smooth things over. “Mr. Kingston, please do not misunderstand. Stella never meant to harm Crown Prince Christopher. She only suggested that treatment to save his arm. No one could have guessed it would lead to such terrible consequences.”
Darren’s lips twitched at those words.
He had been too busy with the emergency earlier to notice Stella’s identity. He’d assumed she was a minor attendant or companion, never the famous Stella from the Prime Minister’s Estate.
The realm’s famed gentle, intelligent beauty is nothing but foolish and reckless.

He kept that thought to himself, though, and only shook his head quietly.
Jasper went on, “Stella was the one who first saved Crown Prince Christopher with her medicine…”
Stella bit her lower lip and fixed a tearful, vulnerable look on Christopher.
Christopher finally spoke up to defend her. “It is true. Her elixir saved my life at the very start. I will not blame her for this mistake, not after that debt.”
Stella breathed a huge sigh of relief, then turned her tearful gaze to Darren. “Mr. Kingston, I admit my healing skills are unfinished. I beg you to do all you can. Please save Crown Prince Christopher’s arm.”
Darren suddenly asked a sharp, direct question. “What medicine did you use?”
Stella’s tone turned faintly proud. “It is the rare Silver Elixir, crafted and passed down by my master. It worked perfectly to purge poison at first. The toxin only grew far stronger over time, and the medicine lost its effect.”
“The Silver Elixir is well known as a powerful remedy.” Darren gave a nod.
Stella’s expression brightened at the praise.
His tone shifted cold and serious right after, “Even so, not even the Silver Elixir can neutralize this deadly strain of poison.”
Silence fell heavily over the room.
Darren explained in a stern voice, “I have treated this rare, lethal poison many times, mostly for seasoned warriors and travelers. The only cure requires precise acupuncture to seal vital points and force the toxin out of the body. Each session takes hours of draining, focused work–and it ranks among our most expensive treatments at Life Preserve Pavilion.
“No medicine on this earth can suppress this poison long–term. Acupuncture is the only proven method to slow its spread. The royal doctors never encountered these deadly toxins, which is why they had no choice but to suggest amputation to save his life.”
