Christopher’s jaw tightened with irritation. “Watch your tone. Don’t think currying favor with Uncle Theodore puts you above me. Speak to me properly.”

Christopher snapped, “You overstep your place. Uncle Theodore has not objected, so what gives you the ight to interfere?”

He tugged Margaret’s arm, determined to pull her away.

The carriage door remained open, and Theodore stared at Margaret with icy silence from within.

‘Will you go with him?” he asked plainly, leaving the choice to her.

‘I will not, Margaret answered without hesitation.

Christopher’s expression darkened. “Margaret, do you realize what you’re saying? This is the first time I’ve asked for your company. Are you truly refusing?”

Margaret struggled to pull her wrist free, but Christopher’s grip only tightened. “Come back with me.”

‘Let go of me, Crown Prince Christopher.” Margaret wrenched her arm away forcefully.

Christopher seized her wrist a second time. “Margaret, must I beg you?”

Margaret let out a slow breath and met his gaze directly. “What is the meaning of this? Our betrothal was broken long ago, and we share no ties now. Speak your thoughts plainly if you have something to say. There is no need to drag me away by force.”

Christopher refused to release her. “We will talk in private at my manor.”

“She does not wish to go. Did you not hear her?” Theodore’s cold voice cut through the air.

She trembled slightly as Theodore pulled her gently toward him.

He had stepped down from the carriage without a sound, his expression dark and menacing as he faced Christopher.

Theodore’s tone turned frigid. “Release her at once.”

“Uncle Theodore, I only want to talk,” Christopher retorted. “She was meant to be my betrothed…”

Margaret pulled her hand free gently, then looked at Christopher with clear exasperation. “Do not forget, Crown Prince Christopher–your intended bride is my sister, Stella, not me. We have no connection left. Kindly refrain from touching me without permission in the future.”
