His cold, sharp words finally calmed Stella down a little. “I understand. I’ll stop crying, Father. Please bring ne a veil at once. I can’t let anyone see how hideous my face looks right now.”
Timothy waved his hand and let the maids lead Stella away to rest.
asper limped over to his side afterward. “Father, Stella only spoke out of anger. Please don’t take her words. o heart. Margaret is nothing as she claims. We’ve misunderstood her far too many times over the years.”
How close are Margaret and Prince Theodore?” Timothy asked suddenly. “When did they first meet?”
asper froze in surprise. “It hasn’t been very long, I believe.”
He’s grown this protective of her in such a short time.” Timothy narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. “Why didn’t you tell me about this sooner?”
asper frowned. “I’m not sure what you’re referring to, Father. I don’t quite understand.”
Imagine if one of my daughters weds Crown Prince Christopher, and the other marries Prince Theodore.” Timothy’s tone held hidden meaning. “Mend their broken sisterly bond. This family must stand united. We cannot let outsiders laugh at our division.”
‘I will do as you say,” Jasper replied quietly.
Meanwhile, Margaret had been led all the way to the estate’s main gate.
A large group of guards waited outside, and commoners hurried past on the roadside, quick to keep their distance.
Margaret finally noticed their intertwined hands and gently pulled hers away. “Thank you for stepping in to help me, Prince Theodore.”
We’ve only been apart two days, yet she feels so distant all of a sudden.
‘You need not thank me,” Theodore said plainly.
His features were as striking as ever, and Margaret’s cheeks warmed unconsciously at the sight of him.
She shook her head quickly, scolding her own wandering thoughts.
He has someone he cares for. I have no reason to blush over him.
Theodore broke the quiet silence first. “I’ve assigned a personal guard to watch over you. His name is Baxter. He will stay by your side from now on.”
Margaret’s eyes widened. “A guard? That isn’t necessary. I can protect myself.”
I have a storage space.

Chapter 140 How Bold You’ve Grown
I can’t risk a guard watching my every move, not when I hide items in secret.
He’s a man, too. I’ll have no privacy, even for small, private moments.
Worst of all, he answers only to Prince Theodore–I’d be nothing more than a prisoner under constant watch.
I’d rather have my own loyal female servants who obey only me.
Theodore could not read her unspoken worries. “I won’t let what happened repeat itself.”

“You mean the kidnapping at the cliff?” Margaret replied casually. “It was never a serious threat. I panicked at first when I learned Winter had been taken, but there were only a dozen ordinary men. I had the situation under control the whole time.”
Theodore climbed into his carriage and reached out to help her up. Before she could move, a familiar voice cut through the air. “Margaret.”
She turned to see Christopher walking straight toward them.
Her expression turned wary at once. “What do you need, Crown Prince Christopher?”
No one noticed the dark, stormy look that crossed Theodore’s face in that instant.
His hand froze mid–air, still extended to pull her into the carriage. But Margaret didn’t turn around for a long time.
He curled his fingers tight into a clenched fist.
Christopher paid no mind to Theodore’s cold demeanor. His gaze stayed locked firmly on Margaret.
As he drew closer, Margaret saw how unwell he looked.
He walked with a painful limp, as if suffering from a severe injury. His handsome face was sallow and marked with dark bruising beneath his swollen eyes.
His hair was messy and unkempt, even after a rushed attempt to tidy it.
He looked rough and worn, as if he’d just survived a brutal fight.
Christopher stared at her with sharp irritation. “You did not kneel on one knee when you saw me. How bold you’ve grown, Margaret.”
