Chapter 154 Ignored Her Completely

Spencer smiled, “You certainly know how to speak well–no wonder Theodore thinks so highly of you.”
Margaret had only spoken the plain truth.
Spencer looked around forty to fifty years old, not a day over fifty at most. He really did seem quite youthful.
She couldn’t help wondering why there was such a big age gap between him and Theodore, his own younger brother.
Royal bloodlines were always full of such odd quirks–the eldest and youngest princes could easily be a generation or two apart in age.
Lost in thought, she heard Spencer speak again. “Then it is settled, if you have no second thoughts.”
Margaret nodded and was about to reply when Noelle cut in, “She’s already got a far better option now. She’d never feel the slightest bit reluctant.”
Margaret paid her no mind. She offered her thanks, then bowed respectfully and withdrew from the chamber.
Theodore shot Noelle a cold, sharp look. “You grow more wild and undisciplined by the day.”
Noelle pouted, “I’m just telling the honest truth, Uncle Theodore. I think she’s set her sights on you–you’d better stay careful.”
Spencer said in a stern tone, “Be off at once. Noelle, you ought to listen to your Uncle Theodore.”
Noelle quickly hung her head in remorse. “I know I’ve misbehaved, Father. I’ll leave right away.”
With those words, she turned and hurried away in a rush.
Spencer shook his head gently. “I’ve clearly spoiled her too much. She grows more unruly by the day.”
Theodore nodded slightly. “Rest quietly and recover, Spencer. I shall take my leave as well.”
He turned and walked off right after.
Spencer’s voice called out from behind him. “That young lady is far more steady and composed than the rumors make her out to be. I think she would suit you well.”
Theodore paused mid–step. “As for her and me, it’s just…”
Spencer wore a faint smile. “I know, no need to explain. Aside from her soft, round features and the broken engagement with Christopher, she’s pleasant enough and has an unblemished background. She may not rank high enough to be your official princess, but she’d make a fine companion. It’s high time you had someone in your household.”
Theodore ignored his words entirely and kept walking.

Spencer’s lazy tone drifted after him. “When I was your age, my children could already call me father.”
Theodore fell silent.
Outside the royal bedchamber, Margaret had stepped out first, only for Noelle to block her path. “Say that again if you dare.”
Margaret spoke without a trace of fear. “Didn’t you just offer to take me as your elder sister, Princess Noelle?”
Noelle flew into a fit of rage. “When did I ever say that? Don’t you dare insult me.”
Margaret blinked. “Are you refusing to own up to your own words?”
Noelle planted both hands on her hips and turned to a nearby palace maid. “Did you hear me say anything like that just now?”
The maid shook her head immediately.
Noelle turned to the next maid beside her. “Did you hear me agree to take her as my elder sister?”
This maid also shook her head.
Noelle looked at Margaret with a triumphant smirk. “I never said a single word of the kind. You won’t get away with slandering me. I’d rather take a beggar from the roadside as my elder sister than ever acknowledge you.”
Just then, Theodore walked out of the bedchamber. Noelle rushed over to him with a bright grin. “Uncle Theodore, you agree with me, right?”
Theodore said in a calm, flat tone, “I heard every word.”
Noelle froze. “Uncle Theodore, what are you even saying?”
There are so many people watching–can he not spare me any dignity at all?
Theodore paid her no heed. He stepped forward, took Margaret’s hand, and walked away together.
Noelle hurried to chase after them, but Cyan stepped forward to block her way. “Please stay where you are, Princess Noelle. We must head back now.”
Noelle clenched her fists tightly in anger. “You’re all ganging up on me to bully me.”
Cyan bowed his head respectfully. “You speak too harshly, Princess Noelle. No one would ever dare. mistreat you.”
Noelle asked sharply, “Then what exactly did you hear just now?”
Cyan replied calmly, “I heard you say you would accept Ms. Campbell as your elder sister if she managed to cure King Spencer’s headaches.”
Noelle let out a flustered cry. “I did not! Stay out of this! This is completely unfair!”
