Chapter 201 Shook His Head in Disappointment
Timothy shook his head.
Stella could never be Crown Princess… Is she only fit to be a Royal Consort?

Margaret kept her expression cold and detached. “Crown Prince Christopher, you care for Stella deeply. How could you ever settle for making her merely a Royal Consort?”
“Must you speak to me like this?” Christopher said. “You know my heart has always belonged to you.”
“I’m sorry, but I fail to see it at all,” Margaret replied in a cold tone. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave…”
Christopher cut in, “Margaret, what more do I have to say to make you forgive me?”
Margaret smiled, “You misunderstand, Crown Prince Christopher. I have no reason to be upset with you in the slightest.”
With that, Margaret took a long detour and headed straight back to her own courtyard.
Winter stared blankly at Christopher, then at Margaret’s retreating figure, before hurrying off to follow
her.
Christopher was made to go after her. “I’ll come fetch you and Stella tomorrow. Don’t you dare refuse.”
He had barely taken a step forward when Timothy blocked his path at once. “Crown Prince Christopher, what do you mean by that? When you formally proposed before, you plainly said Stella was your chosen Crown Princess.”
Timothy looked visibly tense.
Christopher felt a touch of awkwardness, having already made the proposal known. “Stella is indeed my ideal choice for Crown Princess, but Mother does not approve of the match, which is why…”
He paused briefly, then added, “I told Stella this long ago. Has she not mentioned it to you?”
Timothy froze on the spot, lost for words.
Christopher went on, “Where is Stella? I don’t see her anywhere.”
Timothy rushed to make an excuse. “She was struck by a sudden stomach pain in the middle of last night. When she woke, her whole body was swollen and bloated. The physician said she had eaten something that disagreed with her, and she ought to avoid seeing guests for the time being.”
Christopher said, “Let her rest well then. I’ll come see her tomorrow.”
With that, Christopher turned and left.
There was not a trace of lingering regret in his departing figure.
Timothy sighed repeatedly as he watched him go.

Finished
It seems Crown Prince Christopher’s feelings have never wavered all along.
By the time Stella hurried over, Christopher was already long gone.
She stared at the stunned Timothy, putting on a look of panic. “Father, where is Crown Prince Christopher?”
“Why did you lie to me?” Timothy asked her coldly.
Stella immediately realized what he meant. “Father, I didn’t mean to hide it. It’s just such an embarrassing matter, and I didn’t know how to speak of it. I thought if I could change Crown Prince Christopher’s mind, there might still be a chance to fix things, so…”
Her eyes darted nervously as she continued, “Nothing is set in stone until the wedding actually happens. I still have a chance to become Crown Princess.”
“You’re still indulging in foolish fantasies even now?” Timothy’s tone turned even colder. “You need to understand–it’s Queen Norma who dislikes you, not Crown Prince Christopher. No matter how fond he is of you, it will amount to nothing if you cannot win the Queen Mother’s favor.”
Stella said, “I’ll work hard to change Queen Norma’s opinion of me. Father, please trust me.”
Timothy looked her up and down critically. “How can I trust you? Look at the state you’re in now. You’ve ballooned overnight, and you look even plumper than Margaret.”
Tears welled up in Stella’s eyes. “It’s not true. I haven’t put on weight at all–my weight is exactly the same. I’m just swollen all over. I don’t know why my body bloated up out of nowhere overnight. Either I ate something spoiled yesterday, or someone did something to me in the night. Someone must have poisoned me. They knew I was to enter the palace tomorrow, so they slipped me poison while I slept. How cruel they are.”
Her once delicate, pitiful face was now puffed up all over. She looked as if she’d gained twenty pounds in a single night, and even her tears looked absurd.
Timothy let out an irritable breath. “No one poisoned you in the dead of night. You simply couldn’t control your appetite and ate something you shouldn’t have. Go send for more physicians to examine you at once. Do you plan to show up at the palace tomorrow with that swollen face?”
Stella asked, “What about Crown Prince Christopher?”
“He’s already left,” Timothy said sharply. “I’ll be honest with you–he still intends to marry Margaret as Crown Princess. Now that Prince Theodore holds her in high regard, and Crown Prince Christopher seeks her hand, too, everyone looks favorably on her. You truly ought to learn from her.”
Timothy shook his head in disappointment and walked away.
