Margaret smiled, “There’s no need to be so timid. I’ll take you if you want to come.”

Seeing her hesitant, cowardly manner, Margaret shook her head and walked out alone,

Christopher did not step into Bloomveil Court, but paused right at the gate.

Standing before him was Stella, looking worn out and exhausted.

I have no idea why Margaret could be so cruel as to slip me poison in the dead of night, leaving me looking bloated and hideous like this. It’s simply unforgivable.”

Christopher stepped back subtly, his expression turning dark. “You claim Margaret poisoned you. Do you have proof?”

Stella froze.

Christopher had always believed every word she said without question.

“I saw her poison my food with my own eyes,” Stella insisted through her tears. “It’s the absolute truth. Won’t you believe me?”

“I’m curious–when did I ever poison you right in front of your eyes?” Margaret’s voice suddenly rang out.

The two looked up, stunned and speechless at the sight before them.

Margaret had shed her plain, simple clothes for the day, dressed instead in a pale sky–blue gown. Her long hair was styled high and adorned with fine ornaments, making her look impossibly elegant and regal.

The light fabric of her gown made her figure appear slimmer all over, as if she’d lost another dozen pounds overnight.

Her baby face was soft, her skin smooth and flawless. She looked so stunning that both Christopher and Stella were stunned from a distance.

Christopher stepped forward at once. “Margaret, how have you grown so slim all of a sudden?”

Margaret paid him no mind, her gaze fixed coldly on Stella. “You’re not foolish enough to eat poison if you watched me slip it into your food. You claim you saw me do it? You spin such blatant lies without a second thought. You’re quite skilled at making up stories.”

Stella’s hands clenched tight with rage, nearly tearing her gown apart at the sight of Margaret’s radiant beauty.
