Chapter 228 Stay as You Wish
Night soon fell, quiet and still.

Margaret slept soundly through the night, yet grew flustered and uneasy whenever Theodore drifted into her dreams.
In her dream, she was giving him his usual acupuncture treatment during his medicinal bath.
Without warning, Theodore rose abruptly from the bath, startling her badly.
She instinctively lifted her hands to cover her eyes.
Theodore’s soft voice drifted to her ears. “We agreed to give it a try. Why are you still shy?”
Margaret’s cheeks burned red. All she could think to say was, “The acupuncture isn’t finished yet. Please sit back down.”
‘It’s fine,” Theodore said gently. “You said yourself my poison can fade slowly with medicine alone, even if we stop the daily acupuncture sessions.”
Margaret said, “That may be true, but you’ll have to take more medicine. Please sit. I…”
‘When did you start having feelings for me?” Theodore seemed to have dressed quietly and walked over to her side.
She looked away awkwardly. “Who can pinpoint the exact moment? Feelings are never clear–cut…”
‘One’s heart stirs before one knows why, and deep affection follows after.” His voice was soft and warm.
Before Margaret could reply, he suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms.
Though she felt no rejection at all, her heart still raced at how quickly everything was moving.
The strong scent of medicinal herbs filled her nose.
Margaret hurried to speak. “You should wash off the medicinal scent first…”
“Very well.” Theodore let her go at last.
As soon as Margaret breathed a sigh of relief, he suddenly swept her up into his arms. “We’ll wash together.”
Margaret froze completely.
Do ancient men move this fast once they start courting?
We only just agreed to try, and already he’s talking about bathing together?
Before she could react, she felt herself lifted off the ground, then sink gently into warm water.
There was no sense of drowning–only for him to pull her straight back into his embrace a moment later.

She murmured, “You… You…”
Theodore smiled, “You’ve got medicinal scent on you, too. We’ll wash it off together.”
“But I have no change of clothes with me.”
“I’ll have servants prepare some for you.”
“This is still far too soon.”
“It isn’t.”
“We only just agreed to try. It’s barely our first day…”
Her words died away as a soft kiss pressed to her lips.
Strangely, she felt no fluster from the kiss itself–only her heart pounding wildly, as if it might leap straight out of her chest.
She forgot to breathe, half–convinced she would suffocate the next second.
Margaret tried to push him away, yet with one slight shove, his figure vanished entirely from her sight.
“Theodore!” Margaret gasped aloud and jolted awake.
It had all been just a dream.
I actually had a dream like that.
Her heart still raced, her mind replaying the vivid image of him holding her and kissing her.
The dream had felt so real that she could not easily calm down even after waking.
Why on earth did I have such a dream?
Just thinking about it makes me so embarrassed…
Her cheeks stayed flushed red the entire morning.
When she arrived at the Ducal Palace again that day, she was far quieter than usual.
The scene was much the same as always,
Theodore lay in his medicinal bath, his gaze soft as he looked at her. “Something on your mind?”
Margaret stammered, “No… nothing at all…”
“Then why have you been so quiet?” Theodore asked gently. “Does what we said yesterday still stand?”
Margaret’s lips twitched. She knew he would bring it up.
She’d agreed to give them a try in a dazed moment yesterday, and now she’d even dreamed of him like
