He said, “This medicinal scent is strong. You’ve gotten it on your clothes, too. Come soak in the hot spring with me.”

Margaret’s eyes widened the moment he spoke. Those words sounded eerily familiar.

She refused at once. “It’s nothing serious. I can just change my clothes when I get back.”

Theodore said, “I’ve already had several new gowns custom–made for you, not yet sent over. You can try them on after soaking in the hot spring.”

“I really don’t need to…” Margaret gently tried to pull her wrist free. “This is moving far too fast. We barely know each other well enough yet.”

“You stay in the hot spring. I’ll go bathe next door,” Theodore said. “Will that feel more reasonable?”

Margaret fell speechless.

There was no good way to turn him down now.

Thinking her clothes were indeed stained, she finally agreed to his suggestion,

After washing off the medicinal scent, she changed into the new gown Theodore had had prepared for her, then waited outside the private chamber.

“Ms. Campbell has been coming here so often lately, and Prince Theodore has grown kinder and kinder to her. If he ever falls for her one day, Ms. Hickman will be heartbroken.”

“You’re overthinking it. Prince Theodore would never like a plump girl. Even if she’s slimmed down, she can’t compare to Ms. Hickman’s figure. All men love a striking, graceful build, and Prince Theodore is no different.”

“Prince Theodore has always cared for Ms. Hickman. If Ms. Campbell hadn’t appeared out of nowhere, they’d surely be married by now.”
