CHAPTER 146 PART 2

Then, in a movement that shocked everyone present, the leader turned toward Marcus Steel and bowed deeply at the waist.

“Apologies for the delay, boss. Traffic was heavier than expected.”

The silence that followed was absolute.

Cesar’s face went from red to white in an instant. “Boss? What… what are you talking about?”

Marcus finally moved, taking a few casual steps forward. His dragon aura, no longer suppressed, radiated through the space like an invisible pressure wave. Several of Cesar’s men actually stumbled backward.

“Did you really think,” Marcus said conversationally, “that I would walk into your little trap without preparation? You’re even dumber than I thought.”

Cesar’s legs felt weak. “You… you planned this?”

“Obviously.” Marcus stopped a few feet from Cesar, looking down at him with complete contempt, “You’ve been running your mouth all over Five-River Province about how you were going to make me pay. Did you think I wouldn’t hear? Did you think I’d just sit back and wait for you to come after me?”

“But… but how did you…” Cesar’s mind raced. “These men… who are they?”

“Does it matter?” Marcus’s smile was predatory. “The real question is what are you going to do now?”

One of Cesar’s braver men, a burly enforcer named Tank, tried to rally the group. “Don’t listen to him, boss! There’s only a few hundred of them! We can-”

He never finished the sentence. A black-suited fighter appeared beside him as if teleporting, and Tank’s weapon clattered to the ground as he clutched his broken wrist, screaming.

“Only a few hundred?” Marcus repeated mockingly. “You can’t even handle one. But please, by all means-resist. I could use the entertainment.”

Cesar looked around desperately. His men were paralyzed with fear, surrounded and outmatched. The weapons they’d brought suddenly seemed like children’s toys.

“What… what do you want?” Cesar’s voice cracked.

Marcus’s expression turned cold. “What do I want? That’s rich, coming from the man who was going to make me lick his shoes.” He paused, letting the irony sink in. “How about this-you can have exactly what you offered me. Get on your knees.”

“You can’t be serious-”

“GET. ON. YOUR. KNEES.” The dragon authority in Marcus’s voice made it a command that couldn’t be refused.

Cesar’s knees buckled involuntarily, Around him, his men began dropping their weapons, the metallic clattering filling the air as surrender swept through the ranks like a wave,

“Please,” Cesar begged, all his earlier arrogance completely gone. “I’ll give you money. Whatever you want. Just-

“I don’t want your money,” Marcus interrupted. “I want you to understand something very clearly. You came after me because you thought I was weak. Because you thought I was just some nobody who got lucky. But the truth is- “He leaned down, his dragon eyes boring into Cesar’s soul. “-you never stood a chance.”

Cesar’s last few loyal men tried to rush Marcus in a desperate final attack. They barely made it three steps before being intercepted and systematically dismantled by the black-suited force. Within seconds, they were on the ground, groaning in pain.

“Now,” Marcus straightened up, brushing imaginary dust from his sleeve, “About those shoes you wanted licked. Funny thing about karma-it has a sense of humor.” He pointed at Cesar’s expensive leather loafers. “Start licking. Your own shoes. And make it thorough.”

“You… you bastard…” Cesar’s voice was barely a whisper.

“Boss is too kind a word,” the leader of the black-suited men commented. “I’d suggest you comply. Quickly.”
