CHAPTER 161 PART 2
Comments stopped being playful and turned shocked. The video was shared hundreds of times within minutes. People who’d been at other parties, other venues, started calling friends. News spread through Five-River Province’s social networks like wildfire.
Atlas Lancaster. One of the Four Great Young Masters. Getting beaten in public.
It had to be fake. It couldn’t be real. Nobody would dare-
But the video didn’t lie. The blood was real. The swelling was real. And slowly, terribly, the truth began to sink in.
Atlas’s phone-still in his jacket pocket despite everything-started ringing. The vibration was loud enough to be audible across the room. It rang once. Stopped. Rang again immediately.
Ives walked over and plucked it from his pocket before anyone could stop her. She glanced at the screen and smiled. “Elijah Lancaster. That’s your brother, right?”
Atlas tried to speak but couldn’t form coherent words through his destroyed mouth.
Ives answered the call and put it on speaker. “Hello?”
“Atlas!” The voice was panicked, urgent. “What the hell is happening? There are videos everywhere! Is that really you? People are saying-”
“This isn’t Atlas,” Ives interrupted cheerfully. “This is Ives Abbott. Atlas is a little… indisposed at the moment.”
Silence on the other end. Then: “Who did this? Who’s recording? Take down those videos right now or the Lancaster Family will—”
“Will what?” Ives asked. “Sue me? Your brother came to kidnap my friend. He brought criminals to a private party. He threatened everyone in the room. And when he got what was coming to him, someone happened to record it. That’s not my fault.”
“You’re posting videos of a Lancaster being beaten!” Elijah’s voice rose to a shout. “Do you have any idea what kind of response this will-”
“Honestly?” Ives interrupted. “I don’t really care. Your brother’s an asshole who finally met someone more powerful than him. End of story.”
She hung up.
The phone immediately started ringing again. Ives silenced it and tossed it back onto Atlas’s chest where he slumped against Allen’s men.
“There,” she said brightly. “Now the whole province knows what happens when you mess with the wrong people,

Marcus watched this unfold with something like approval in his dragon eyes. Ives had just ensured that Atlas couldn’t hide what had happened. Couldn’t spin it or control the narrative. The humiliation was public, permanent, and already spreading beyond anyone’s ability to contain.
Atlas made a sound-might have been a sob, might have been a groan of pain. His phone kept vibrating against his chest as more calls came in. His social media accounts were probably exploding with notifications. And somewhere in the Lancaster Family mansion, his father was likely having the stroke Atlas had been threatening others with all evening.

“I think,” Marcus said quietly, “that’s enough for tonight.”

He gestured to Allen. “Take him to the hospital. Make sure they fix his face well enough that he can explain to his family exactly what happened and why.”
“With pleasure, Mr. Steel,” Allen replied.
As Allen’s men dragged Atlas toward the door, the young elites who’d been forced to participate began edging toward the exit as well-desperate to leave before something worse happened, desperate to get ahead of the scandal, desperate to figure out how to explain to their families why they’d just publicly assaulted one of the Four Great Young Masters.
But before anyone could leave, Marcus spoke one more time.
“Everyone who participated tonight is now under my protection,” he said clearly. “The Lancaster Family will want revenge. They’ll come for you all individually, trying to pick you off one by one. But as long as you remember who really protected you when Atlas came calling-as long as you remember who actually has power in this province-you’ll be safe.”
It was both a promise and a threat. Stand with the Dragon King, or stand alone against the Lancaster Family’s wrath.
Nobody needed time to decide.
