CHAPTER 162 PART 1

Ives Abbott could barely contain her glee as notifications flooded her phone. Shares. Comments. Reactions. The video of Atlas Lancaster’s humiliation was spreading through Five – River Province’s social elite like wildfire, and she was at the center of it all.

“Look at this one,” she said to no one in particular, scrolling through responses. “Is this for real?’ Yes, Karen, it’s very real. ‘Someone’s going to get in trouble for this’-yeah, Atlas!” She laughed, the sound bright and utterly carefree.

Marcus Steel watched her from across the room, his dragon eyes narrowed with calculation and concern. What Ives saw as entertainment, he saw as a lit fuse racing toward a powder keg.

“Ives,” Marcus said quietly. “Stop posting.”

“What? Why?” She looked up, genuinely confused. “This is perfect! Everyone needs to see what happens when someone like Atlas tries to bully people. Public humiliation is exactly what-”

“Public is exactly the problem,” Marcus interrupted, his voice hardening. “If this had stayed private, the Lancaster Family might have handled it quietly. Swallowed their pride to avoid a bigger scandal. But now?” He gestured at her phone. “Now they have no choice but to retaliate. You’ve backed them into a corner.”

Ives’s smile faltered slightly. “They wouldn’t dare come after the Abbott Family-”

“They’ll come after everyone in that video who isn’t an Abbott,” Marcus corrected. “Every single person you’ve just made famous for slapping their heir. Those families don’t have your protection. And they’re going to blame you for it.”

“But I was just-”

“Just making everything exponentially worse,” Marcus finished coldly.

He turned to Elize, who was still pressed against the far wall, her face streaked with tears and mascara. “This is where I leave you. Figure out your own survival from here.”

“Marcus, please!” Elize’s voice cracked. “I’m sorry! For everything! The things I said, the way I acted–I was wrong! Don’t leave me to face this alone!”

“You made your choices,” Marcus said without sympathy. “You tried to humiliate me in front of everyone. Accused me of cheating. Mocked Ives. And now you want protection? You had that. You threw it away.”

“But my family abandoned me!” Elize sobbed. “I have nowhere to go! If Atlas comes back—”

“Then you should have thought about that before you decided being petty was more important than being smart,” Marcus replied. He walked toward the door. “Good luck, Elize. You’re going to need it.”

The door closed behind him and Allen’s security team, leaving the room in stunned silence.

That silence lasted approximately thirty seconds.

Then the phones started ringing.

Brandon Chen’s phone lit up first. His father’s name flashed on the screen. He answered with shaking hands. Dad, I can explain—”

“EXPLAIN?” The shout was loud enough that people across the room could hear it. “You’re in a video beating Atlas Lancaster! Our entire family is about to be blacklisted! Get home NOW!”

The call ended abruptly.

Simeon King’s phone rang next. Then Madison Park’s. Then Carter Woods’s. One by one, the young elites fielded furious calls from parents who’d already seen the video spreading across their own social networks.

“You did WHAT?”

“Are you insane?”

“Do you have any idea what you’ve done to this family?”

“The Lancasters will destroy us!”

Some parents were coldly calculating, already working angles to minimize damage. Others were explosively angry, their children’s stupidity threatening family businesses, social connections, political relationships that had taken decades to build.

Trevor Park, who’d delivered the first forced slap, ended his call with his father and immediately slumped against the wall. “He disowned me. Right there on the phone. Said I’m no longer part of the Park Family until I personally go to the Lancaster estate and beg forgiveness on my knees.”

“My father said the same thing,” Brandon whispered, his face ashen. “Kneel. Apologize. Offer whatever compensation they demand.”
