Scarlett (Second Edition) by Karima Saad Usman novel Chapter 175

Maxwell’s POV

I had never seen anything like it. Scarlett’s entire body ignited in green flames, consuming her clothes in alt instant. My heart pounded, and I panicked dropping to my knees beside her. I tried to cover her with snow, hoping to smother the fire, but it melted the moment it touched her skin, steam rising around her in furious clouds. The flames blazed on, intense and untamed, burning bright against the white landscape

I had no idea what else to do, but I kept piling snow onto her, desperate to quench the flames that seemed unstoppable. Finally, after a minute ther a lifetime, the fire sputtered out. Scarlett lay there, her body still and vulnerable. Her skin glowed faintly, as if some otherworldly energy had past released her, and after a few heartbeats, she began to stir, slowly coming back to herself

Clay had described something like this once, but seeing it with my own eyes was entirely different. She was defenseless in that state, a target for anyone who wished her harm. How could she manage this alone in the South, where we couldn’t protect her? But if I told her she needed to stay, she’d just thank was making another attempt to control her, to keep her tied here. It left me feeling helpless and Conflicted.

Without thinking, I lifted her, carrying her toward the pack house as quickly as I could. Her body was limp, but her breathing was steady, and 1 held her tightly, feeling the need to protect her more fiercely than ever.

“Doctor Ralph, please come to my quarters. Now,” I linked to Redcape’s pack doctor, unsure if he could even help but knowing I had to try. Scarlett seeded someone who understood what might be happening to her body, her magic.

As I reached the pack house, I hesitated, wondering if I should bring her to her own room, but then decided against it. Scarlett needed us, even if she dida want to admit it. I pushed the door open to our apartment, not caring about the consequences.

Inside, Lucian and Clay sat at the table, glasses in hand. Lucian looked up, his eyes glassy with drunkenness, while Clay, though still saber enough to clearly, had the unmistakable weight of alcohol in his expression. The sight of Scarlett, naked and unconscious in my arms, snapped them both atten and they staggered to their feet, alarm instantly clearing their faces.

“What the hell happened?” Clay asked, his voice tight with worry, while Lucjan took a step forward, suddenly sober in his focus.

“She… she went up in flames,” I said, my voice low, still shaken by the memory of the fire. “Green flames. Just like you described once, Clay doctor, but… I don’t know what else to do.”

Both of them went silent, their eyes fixed on Scarlett, fear and confusion etched on their faces as they tried to make sense of this

I carried Scarlett carefully to my room, laying her down gently on the bed. She looked serene, almost peaceful, but there was an uns, the deck her stillness, as though she were caught in a dream she couldn’t escape. I pulled the covers over her to keep her warm.

“Get a shirt,” I told Clay, not wanting her to be vulnerable when the doctor arrived. He returned quickly with a plain, white sur scents of us, something he knew she’d appreciate. He laid a beside me as he studied Scarlett with deep con VEFA,

“How did it happen?” Clay finally asked, his voice low and worried
