Chapter 184

“What about my strength?” I asked, weling a spark of cusity. I needed to understand the nature of my power, to learn how to manage it.

“Your magic is powerful, Scarlett, but it is also dangerously malleable. It consumes, adapts, and is easily corrupted Because it takes on the attributes of whatever it touches, you must guard your heart and soul carefully. I sense a shadow there, a hint of darkness. Her expression softened, and I knew she could see I was already aware of this.

“I can see you know,” she added, a small smile of understanding gracing her face.

“My wolf, Midnight, said the magic feels like too much for us to handle,” I admitted, sharing Midnight’s worry with her.

Elsa nodded. “Because, in reality, this magic belongs to all four of you. Maxwell, Clay, and Lucian would have shared in it too, had they not been tainted upon your union.” Her words hung heavy in the room, especially for the three of them.

“They didn’t… keep themselves, and that is the price they pay. But who knows? They might still gain access to the magic someday. It’s unclear. If it does happen, though, it will never be as powerful or as pure as yours.”

I glanced over at them, seeing a mixture of emotions cross their faces as Elsa’s words sank in. Her comment reminded fee of all those times they’d insisted I was somehow “tainted” and therefore “unworthy.” Yet here we were, with fate turning those very expectations on their heads. Now they were the ones who had missed out on something greater because of their choices.

It was strangely satisfying to see that fate had held them to the same standard they’d once held over me. As I looked at them, I felt a sense of quiet justice, knowing that even the powerful were not above the rules they’d tried to impose on me.

“I can teach you to tame the wild magic within you,” Elsa said thoughtfully. “We’ll focus on bringing your water and earth elements to the surface, as they offer stability. Fire and wind are powerful, yes, but they are also vengeful and destructive forces. Water can be unpredictable, but it’s still more manageable than fire and wind.” Her words were reassuring, and I felt a hint of relief at the prospect of gaining some control over the chaos within me. “It will take time and patience, but I believe you and your wolf are up for it.”

She paused, then added, “Alisson, the southern seer, will be making her way North soon to serve her new Alpha. I trust she will be welcomed.” I nodded, understanding the subtle meaning behind her words. Elsa wouldn’t remain my guide for long; her duty was to the North, to Clay, Maxwell, and Lucian. I would have to look elsewhere for guidance once I had a grasp of this training.

“Tell me about your vision,” she prompted, watching me closely.

I took a deep breath, choosing my words carefully. “There was a pale horse, a rider cloaked in darkness. Everywhere the rider went, it brought death and destruction. It swept across the South first, laying waste to everything, and then it moved to the East and then the North, leaving nothing but death in its wake.”

Elsa’s expression remained neutral, but I hesitated. I’d recognized the rider’s identity in the vision. It was a dark version of myself, an embodiment of the anger and bitterness I held within. But sharing that detail felt dangerous. I didn’t want anyone-especially my mates-to see me as a threat, to view me as something dark and uncontrollable. They might react with fear, maybe even try to restrict me further. No, that piece was something I needed to work through on my own.

“Is that all you saw?” she asked, her eyes still searching.

I nodded, trying to keep my expression neutral. “I couldn’t make out the rider’s features. I couldn’t tell if it was male or female. But its power was

overwhelming, killing everyone, even Keith Harold. The magic it wielded was incredibly potent.”

Elsa’s brow furrowed slightly as she absorbed this. “And where were you in this vision?”

“Scarlett,” Elsa’s voice called me back, urging me to speak. I swallowed hard.

“The rider… was me,” I said, the words tumbling out. I heard the sharp gasps around me, felt their stock like a were.

“It was me and… not me. At first, the rider’s features were blurred, but it sensed me watching and attacked me, as if it waslet in ker me Even And then, in that moment, it shifted. It had my face, but its aura was black, thick with dark magic”

Elsa’s face was grave as she absorbed this, her gaze distant as if she were already seeking answers from a place beyond the pfiquical. “I see her tone thoughtful. “This is… not a straightforward vision.” Her eyes met mine, steady and grounding. *Things are not always what frey seem, Visions can be mirrors of fear, reflections of potential futures, or warnings of paths we could stray toward. Ir consult the spirits tonight, where moon it at its peak.”

Her words offered me a small, fragile hope. I nodded, feeling a bit lighter, though the weight of the vision still clung to me.

Then, Elsa adjusted her position, settling herself as she glanced around the room. “Now,” she said, her voice steady, “let’s begin.” Her gaze lingered on me

then drifted to each of the others, her question hanging in the air. “Whose bond are we severing first?”

The room fell into tense silence, the weight of the decision pressing down on all of us. I could feel their eyes on me, each of them bracing themselves.
