Locian’s POV

Garland sat before us, visibly scarred and far from the arrogant man who had marched into our territory sering chaos. The burns from Scarlett’s attack had seared his skin so deeply that even his wolf genes couldn’t fully heat him. His once pristine appearance was marred, cely permanently. It was a testament to the ferocity of Scarlett’s power-a reminder of why she wan’t someone to be underestimated. But whose fault was this, really?

Garland had brought it on himself, walking into our territory, seeking trouble, and, worse, underestimating Scarlett. He had treated her as a weak and helpless Luna. That mistake had cost him dearly.

What infuriated me even more was the thought that Stasia, had been feeding him information. The betrayal burned hotter than Garland’s injuries, and I resolved to make her pay for it. She’d not only endangered Scarlett but all of us, and for that, her actions couldn’t go unanswered.

Clay arrived just as the guards prepared to bring Garland in. He walked in with a smug look, his cent heavily intertwined with Scarlett’s. I stiffened, suppressing a growl. Of course, he’d spent the morning with her. Maybe I should have stayed behind instead of leaving to handle the morning duties with Maxwell. Scarlett always seemed to have a soft spot for him-perhaps because he’d been the least hostile toward her when she arrived.

While I had fumbled with my own mistakes, Clay had made sure she was warm, fed, and protected. He’d recognized what she needed long before I had. I couldn’t fault him for that, but it stung nonetheless. Scarlett had forgiven me for my failures, but I hadn’t forgiven myself. I doubted I ever would.

“What did I miss?” Clay asked, pulling up a chair and leaning back casually as the guards went to fetch Garland.

“Nothing,” Maxwell replied, his voice edged with impatience. “We’re just about to question the douchebag. I still can’t believe the asshole thought he could take both the North and the South. Maybe he’s been troubling the South for longer than we realised. That might be why David asked for troops. You sure we won’t help regardless?” Maxwell’s sharp eyes turned to me.

“Scarlett said no, and I know she has a good reason. I don’t need to know the details, personal or otherwise, to trust her judgment. I’ll stand by her, no matter what,” I said firmly, my voice carrying a weight I hoped conveyed my conviction.

Maxwell nodded in agreement, though I could see the momentary flicker in his eyes that told me he had forgotten what Scarlett had mentioned about sending the troops to the South. When the memory resurfaced, his expression softened. He was grateful, though he didn’t say it aloud.

“Where is she, by the way?” I asked Clay, shifting the focus.

“In the living room. Watching television and waiting for her seer to arrive,” he replied.

I let out a sigh, the events of the previous night replaying in my mind like a bad dream. Each memory was heavy with regret.

“I’m sorry I dragged all of you into this Stasia mess,” I admitted, the guilt clawing at me. “If I hadn’t been so reckless, you all could have gained the magic.

But because of my stupidity, none of us did. And now Scarlett has to bear the weight of this unstable magic-mine especially. It’s not fair to her. When will

any of this be set right?”

Clay shook his head gently, his voice calm but firm. “You didn’t force us into this, Lucian. We were part of it from the beginning. Let’s just be thankful for

what we do have and focus on helping Scarlett find a way to stabilise the magic. That’s all we can do now.”

His words were meant to be comforting, but they couldn’t erase the self-blame that burned in my chest.

I glanced over at Maxwell. He stayed silent, no objections or reassurances coming from him, just his steady presence.

The room grew tense as they brought in Garland, his body showing signs of healing, but his spirit clearly shattered. His eyes were wide with fear, the

Fontitse he ence carried completely gone. Scarlett had left her mark on him, and it wasn’t just physical. If I were in his shoes, I’d be shaken ing

Despite the situation, a small, bitter chuckle escaped me as I thought about Scarlett’s unyielding sense of humor even in times like these. She was relentless, and sometimes it was almost… amusing.

“You’re healing well.” I said to Garland, my tone cold and deliberate. “Our Lama showed you mercy. Consider yourself lucky, because I wouldn’t have. Especially knowing what you intended.”

Garland remained silent, his mouth pressed into a thin, fearful line.

Maxwell broke the silence, his voice sharp. “How did Stasia help you? And what made you think you would take both the North and the South?”
