Chapter 241

Maxwell crouched at the edge of the lake, dipping his hand into the water. His fingers passed through the green flames wh resistance, the fire swirling harmlessly around his skin. “Incredible,” he murmured, awe softening his features.

With a grin. I pulled him by the hand, and we both jumped in. The water enveloped us like a warm embrace, and for a moment, it felt like we’d left the North entirely. The icy surroundings faded into the background, replaced by the feeling of swimming in a southern pin- alive, vibrant, and soothing.

Maxwell swam with an energy I hadn’t seen in him before, his eyes shining like a boy reliving cherished memories. It was as though the

years of loss and hardship melted away with the ice.

“A hot pond in the middle of a frozen lake,” a voice called from the edge, and I turned to see Clay and Lucian standing there. Clay was

grinning, his emerald-green eyes glowing with amusement, while Lucian looked like he was already planning to jump in.

Before I could say anything, Lucian dove in without hesitation, the flames barely phasing him as he swam toward me. Clay followed

shortly after, wading into the water with an appreciative hum.

Lucian reached me first, pulling me close as the water rippled around us. “Never did I think I’d see this lake alive again,” he said, his

voice thick with emotion.

“It’s been frozen for fifteen years.” He kissed me then, his lips warm and his touch filled with gratitude. The heaviness I’d felt around him earlier was gone, replaced by a lightness that seemed to spread through all of us.

“Starting a party without us?” Clay teased, his playful grin lighting up his face as he swam closer. His eyes gleamed green, and even in th warm water, they seemed to glow with energy.

“Clay,” Lucian said, his brow furrowed as he noticed, “what’s up with your eyes?”

Clay turned his gaze toward Lucian and let out a laugh. “I could ask the same about yours-they’re fiery orange.”

I glanced between the two of them, their awe evident as they studied each other. “It’s your auras,” Maxwell said, his tone brimming with excitement. “I saw mine earlier. Looks like you can see them now too.”

The realization sent a spark of energy through all of us. Their magic was returning-slowly, perhaps, but unmistakably. The changes we subtle at first, but they were becoming more pronounced.

I could feel it in the way the elements had become more stable within me, in the way the lake responded so readily to my touch. A futu without magic seemed less likely with each passing moment.

We stayed in the lake a while longer, basking in the warmth and the camaraderie. It was a moment we hadn’t dared hope for-a reprie from the burdens that weighed on us. Eventually, though, we climbed out, reluctant to leave but mindful of the chill waiting for us be

“No comment,” I said slyly, refusing to give him the satisfaction.

Lucian didn’t take my jab lightly. “Let me change your mind about that,” he said, pulling me into a kiss. It was deep and passionate, and as his lips moved against mine, I felt his body temperature rise. Out here in the snow, his heat was comforting, chasing away the cold.

His lips left mine, traveling to my neck in a trail of fire, and just as I was losing myself in him, Clay leaned in, capturing my lips in his. The exchange was seamless, leaving me unable to tell who I was kissing or who was touching me. Everything blurred together-an intoxicating mix of emotions and colorful auras merging into a radiant spectrum. It was as if the world around us melted away, leaving only the four of us in a bubble of warmth and love.

We made love there, oblivious to the snow and the looming troubles of our reality. In that moment, nothing else mattered.

We poured every ounce of devotion, passion, and trust into each kiss, each touch, each movement. It wasn’t just physical-it was an unspoken promise, a testament to everything we had fought for and everything we hoped for.
