Maxwell’s gaze shifted in the frozen lake. Its surface glinted under the soft light, a stark beauty against the snow laden backdr beautiful as the North is, sometimes the snow and frost take so much away from life here,” he said, his voice quieter, more
He gestured toward the lake, his expression tinged with nostalgia. “This lake used to be our favourite spot. We’d come here to waim. and dream about the future. After our parents died in battle, the elders took us in. But they were selfish, using us as pawns for their gul All we really had was each other.
We clung to that, hoping we’d never be separated. We wanted to stay together by any means, and I’m glad fate granted us that wishe?
His hold on me tightened, his emotions simmering just beneath the surface. “Thank you for choosing to stay, Scarlett,” he said, his voice earnest. “You filled a space we didn’t even know was empty. You became the bond that holds us together. Even after everything we’ve
done, I couldn’t imagine you’d stay, let alone share your life with us. Thank you. If fate allows me to live long enough, I’ll spend the rest
of my life showing you just how grateful I am to have you.”
He gently turned my face toward him and kissed me. The kiss wasn’t rushed or filled with passion-it was soft, tender, and full of
meaning. His soul seemed to pour into that moment, and I could feel every word he’d spoken etched into it. He meant it all. As his lips moved against mine, his cyan magic aura surrounded us, stronger and more vibrant than before. I let myself sink into it, embracing the
warmth and the connection. His element intertwined with me, a feeling so deep it was almost overwhelming.
When he finally broke the kiss, we sat together, gazing out at the frozen lake in silence. The tranquility of the moment wrapped around
us like a cocoon, the world outside fading away.
As we stared at the lake, an idea sparked in my mind-a wild, crazy thought, but one that felt worth pursuing. I wanted to give him back piece of the joy he’d spoken of, a taste of the childhood memories he cherished.
This frozen lake wasn’t just ice and water-it was a part of him, a fragment of the good in a past marred by loss and hardship. If I could wanted to bring it back to life for him, even if only briefly.
I stood, determination buzzing through me. Maxwell immediately noticed and followed. “Scarlett, what are you doing?” he asked, conce lacing his voice as he caught up with me.
“Testing my limits,” I teased, glancing back at him with a mischievous smile. Kneeling by the edge of the lake, I pressed my hands to t
cold, slick surface of the ice.
Maxwell’s footsteps crunched softly behind me as he approached, but I closed my eyes, focusing on the fire within me. I didn’t draw o anger or hatred-those weren’t the emotions I needed. Instead, I tapped into love. Love for Maxwell, for my mates, for the life we were fighting for.
I let that love rise within me, mingling with the loss I’d felt and the hope I refused to let go of.

Chapter 240
At first, nothing happened, and doubt crept into my mind. But then, faintly, I saw If green flames, softe and ethereal, spreading out from where my hands touched the ice. They moved slowly at first, then faster, snaking through the frozen surface until the entire lake
shimmered with a ghostly green light.
stepped back, watching in awe as the ice began to melt. Steam rose from the surface as cracks formed, the thick frost breaking apart
under the heat of my magic. Maxwell stood beside me, silent and stunned. The lake transformed before our eyes, the dark water bonesit.
the ice coming back to life, rippling gently as if waking from a long slumber.
“Green… so that’s what your aura looks like,” Maxwell said softly, his cyan blue eyes glowing as they turned to meet mine. There was a
wonder in his gaze that made my heart flutter.
“You can see it?” I asked, excitement bubbling in my voice.
He nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips. “I saw mine earlier-while we kissed,” he confessed.
I didn’t know what it meant exactly, but it felt like the start of something significant, a shift in the tides. The lake continued to melt under the soft glow of green flames, the water warm to the touch as the fire danced across the surface, spreading gentle heat.
“Care to jump in?” I teased, watching Maxwell’s expression shift between amazement and hesitation.
He hesitated. “It won’t burn me?” he asked, doubt flickering in his tone.
