Chapter 50
Scarlett’s POV

Arriving at her shop, it was filled with earthy scents and vibrant plants, each one lovingly cared for. As soon as she saw me, her face lit up with a warm smile, her bright eyes beaming with joy.
“Scarlett!” she said warmly, coming around the counter to give me a heartfelt hug. “I missed you.” I smiled, slightly taken aback by her enthusiasm, but I hugged her back all the same, her kindness and sincerity soothing something, deep within me.
After breaking the hug, she raised an eyebrow, tilting her head. “Alpha Maxwell?” she asked knowingly, her gaze carrying an amused sparkle. My cheeks warmed, and I looked down, feeling bashful as the memory of last night washed over me.
She laughed softly, patting my shoulder. “Come, sit,” she said, the shop.

“A lot of rumors have been swirling around about you… screwing all the alphas,” she added, her voice calm but matter–of–fact. I felt
a pang of discomfort at her words, unsure how to respond. It stung to know that people were gossiping, jumping to conclusions. But

“I didn’t catch your name the first time we met.” I said with a smile and she returned the smile willing to change the topic.

“Vladislav bitch. The Alphas‘ whore,” she spat out, her voice sharp with venom.
Martha was quick to respond. “Watch your tongue, Stasia. You are no longer in Alpha Lucian’s favour, and if you disrespect Alpha Maxwell’s woman, there will be consequences.” Her words were firm, and I could see the anger flare in Stasia’s eyes.

“Don’t get too comfortable,” Stasia snarled, her voice low. “They’ll drop you when the time comes. You’ll regret ever thinking you mattered to them.” Her glare was fierce as she tried to provoke me, her words designed to cut deep.
Unfazed, Martha collected the flowers from her hands, refusing to sell them. “I have said nothing wrong, Aunty. She’ll regret it,”
Stasia insisted, and my eyes widened as I realized Martha was her aunt.
Martha’s expression softened with a tinge of sadness, but she stood her ground. “I won’t entertain your bitterness, Stasia. It isn’t Scarlett’s fault, and it’s time you accept that.”
Stasia glared at her aunt, her face twisted with frustration. “I would have been Luna if it weren’t for her,” she bit/out, looking at me one last time before storming out.
Feeling overwhelmed, I moved to stand, ready to leave, but Martha’s hand gently held me back. “Please stay, Scarlett,” she said with a reassuring smile. “Stasia is leaving.”
The door swung shut behind her, and the tension left the room like an exhaled breath. I looked back at Martha, who smiled softly, her eyes full of understanding.
“Don’t let her words bother you, Scarlett. Some people cling to bitterness, even when life offers them better paths.” Her voice was kind, and the warmth returned to the room. I settled back down, grateful for Martha’s‘ support and her steady presence amid the
storm of emotions stirred up by Stasia.
“Please, relax,” she said gently. “Stasia is my late brother’s daughter–very misguided and rude, yes, but you have nothing to worry

paused, then added, “She’s just bitter because she and Alpha Lucian had a falling–out. She blames it all on you.”
Hearing this, I felt an urge to leave, knowing how close her words were to the truth. But Martha’s expression shifted as realization

Her worried look softened, and I felt a surge of relief as I finally admitted, “They’re my mates.” A grin spread across her face, her
expression lighting up.
“Then you should have said so!” She beamed, clearly delighted. “Stasia has been stirring up ugly rumours, saying you were… well,

Her support put me at ease, and we shifted our conversation to lighter topics. Still, a nagging thought lingered in the back of my mind–my mates‘ whereabouts. I didn’t ask Martha where they’d gone. It felt too embarrassing, almost degrading, to admit I hadn’t known where they were. If they were truly beginning to accept me, I wished they’d simply left a message or let an Omega inform
After some time, I returned to my room, feeling the dull ache of doubt. I lay down, hoping that my mates would return soon and that this feeling of being left in the dark wouldn’t become a habit.
