Chapter 77

Scarlett’s POV

My heart skipped a beat as I quickly took out a handkerchief, wiping it away before any of my mates noticed Luckily, the pain faded as quickly as it had come, and there was no lingering migraine, but the aminous feeling anly grew stronger.

“Gregory,” Lucian’s voice cut through the tension, pulling Gregory’s gaze away from me. He blinked, locking momentarily disoriented, then quickly refocused on Lucian.

“Good day, Alpha Lucian,” he said, bowing in a show of respect. “It is an honour to be in Redcape.” Lucian returned his nod, his expression calm but watchful.

Gregory moved down the line, exchanging polite greetings with Maxwell and Clay. Yet, even as he did, his eyes would flicker back to me, his gaze almost invasive, lingering too long and too intently.

I could feel Tiger, Lucian’s wolf spirit, growling in my mind, and I knew Lucian felt it too. He didn’t take kindly to anyone ogling me, especially not in his

presence.

“And who is this beautiful lady seated beside you?” Gregory asked, his tone feigning innocence though his eyes held something darker.

“Gregory, meet our Luna, Scarlett,” Lucian replied, his voice edged with warning. I noticed he left out my last name on purpose, a subtle yet clear message

that my identity and our bond were not to be trivialised or questioned.

Lucian’s hand rested protectively on the back of my chair, making his possessiveness unmistakable. Of all my mates, Lucian was the most territorial, especially when he felt I was under threat, and right now, his energy was like a coiled spring, ready to act if Gregory overstepped.

“Wow, the three of you,” Gregory said with a slight something in his tone irked me,

“Welcome, Mr. Olsen,” I said smoothly, keeping

clearly amused by our unique relationship dynamic. I offered him a polite smile, though

cordial. “We’ve prepared a feast to celebrate your arrival. I hope it will meet your expectations.”

Gregory’s words dripped with charm, “Anything prepared by you, Luna, will be good enough.” His gaze lingered on me, too intense, too familiar, and I quickly looked away, feeling the heat of Lucian’s jealousy beside me. I knew my mate wouldn’t take kindly to another man looking at me with such blatant admiration. Tension buzzed between us all as Lucian rose, taking his role as Alpha to lead us to the dining hall.

We filed in, settling around the long dining table. I took my seat beside Lucian, with Clay on one side and Maxwell on Lucian’s other. Gregory was positioned next to Maxwell, but his attention was unmistakably on me. I could feel his eyes on me even as I tried to focus on ny mates and the meal in front of us. His staring was more than unsettling; it felt invasive, like, he was peeling away layers to see something he had no right to see.

“Redcape has a long way to go development-wise,” Gregory commented, his tone casual yet laced with a condescending edge. I saw Lucian’s jaw tighten ever so slightly, though he kept his expression neutral.

“We’re fine,” Clay replied smoothly, his voice even but firm. “We endured a severe attack not too long ago. It left its mark, yes, but we’re bouncing back, the rebuilding is well underway.” I knew Clay was proud of Redcape and deeply loyal to it. Hearing someone disparage it, especially after all we had been through, must have struck a nerve. The attack had brought us close to ruin; the scars on the settlement were visible everywhere. But we were resilient, and slowly, we were reclaiming what was ours. The goddess had protected us, and for that, I was profoundly grateful.

Gregory merely nodded, taking in Clay’s words before returning to his meat. There was a thickness in the air, a tension I couldn’t shake, and i found myselë breathing a quiet sigh of relief when dinner concluded. Lucian personally escorted Gregory to his guest room, showing him where he would be stasing. Gregory expressed his gratitude, and the evening carried on with a small gathering in his honour, complete with muse and dancing.

Chapter 77

The northern women began their performance, swaying and moving to a sultry rhythm. Amid the dancers, I caught sight of Stasia, her eyes locked firmly on Lucian. She moved with exaggerated grace, her hips rolling to the beat, her gaze daring and filled with longing.

At first, a pang of insecurity hit me, and my hand instinctively touched the mark en my neck-a reminder of my bond with my mates. But when I looked over at Lucian, I realised he wasn’t even watching her. He was talking with Clay and Maxwell, his attention miles away from Stasia’s desperate display.

Relief and satisfaction washed over me as I looked back at Stasia. She must have seen me watching because her eyes darkened, her expression shifting to one of pure resentment. I almost felt sorry for her; she had oured so much energy into trying to capture Lucian’s attention, and he hadn’t spared her a glance. Her anger only fed my sense of security. Despite her attempts, I knew where Lucian’s heart lay. And I realised that it wasn’t her beauty or her tricks that made her powerless; it was the depth of our bond.

Stasia’s aunt had approached me several times, pleading for me to ask Lucian to discourage her. But Stasia seemed beyond any quiet nudging. As I watched her storm off after the performance, it became clear to me that she wasn’t going to give up easily. I resolved that I would speak to Lucian about having her leave Redcape for good.

I trusted my mate, of course, but there was no reason to let someone stay who couldn’t respect our bond. The thought of her being removed from our lives lifted a weight from my heart. I wanted peace here, a home that wasn’t clouded by jealousy or longing from others.

I looked over at my mates, my heart swelling with love. As Lucian caught my gaze, he gave me a soft, reassuring smile that melted away my lingering

worries. This was our life, our bond, and our love, and I would protect it with everything I had.
