Chapter 204
“Do you trust me to help?” Ivan asked,
Vaughn glared at the older man. “What are you suggesting?”
“Take as many wolves as you can afford to with you. I will put in a call to my enforcers and a few other contacts I have.”
“What if one of those people decides to tip Kaleb off?” I asked. “It’s clear he has sources everywhere.”
Ivan shook his head. “I will only reach out to my most trusted people. I swear that to you.”
I looked around the room. There were no good options here. No matter what we chose, there was the chance for devastation. But whatever we decided, we needed to make that decision together.
I opened my mind link to my bond. What do you think?
River was the first to speak. I don’t feel any deception with Ivan. It’s a risk, but I think it gives us the best fighting chance,
Vaughn growled. I hate relying on outsiders, but strategically, River’s right. We need more shifters on our side.
I’ve been looking at the map, and I think I know where they’ll hide their backup, Caspian said. I can come up with a plan that gives us the best access points for a
counterattack.
My stomach roiled at the word attack
Anson shot us all a cheeky grin. Let’s fuck up some traitors and assholes.
I looked at Knox. There was so much strain around his eyes. This isn’t just on you, Knox. It’s all of us.
He nodded. We go with everything we have.
My hands tightened around the wheel of the SUV as I made a turn on the mountain road. Anson had insisted I take the Range Senver, and as gravel turned to
now, I was glad for it. But it wasn’t only the vehicle’s safety I was thankful for, it was how it made me feel close to the guys.
Their scents clung to the leather and so did the memories we’d created in the space. I thought back to the first time I’d been inside, when Anson, Caspian, and I had driven back to Anson’s house to study. A smile curved my lips as I thought about how clueless I’d been. If you’d told me then that I could turn into a wolf or
had special gifts, I would’ve told you that you were crazy.
Now I couldn’t imagine my life without those things. Couldn’t imagine my life without my mates most of all. They each gave me something so precious and inique. My chest burned as I imagined them traveling over roads opposite mine. It seemed so wrong, this separation. Yet I knew it was what we had to do.
tiver’s voice broke into my mind. You doing okay? I felt pain.
smiled into the darkness ahead. Your gift is getting stronger if you can feel that when we’re this far away.
He let out a soft growl. Answer the question, Senna.
You’re channeling some of Vaughn’s bossiness.
A soft chuffing laugh sounded in my head. Sometimes he knows the right tactics to use.
shook my head as if River could see me. I’m okay. Just missing you all. It feels wrong to be apart like this. Especially when we’re facing what’s ahead
River was quiet for a moment. None of us like it either. I still think Caspian should have hidden in the Senver.
You know they’ll search it. Even if they don’t scent any other shifters.
River let out a huff. I don’t like you being alone.
I don’t like it when any of us are alone.

Chapter 204
A hum of energy bloomed beneath my skin.
Can you feel that? River asked.
My breath caught in my throat. How?
It was the same warmth that I had only felt when River was touching me. It spread through my muscle and sinew, taking root
I’ve been working on projecting my gift across distances. I wasn’t sure it would work this far, but our connection is unlike any other.
Tears pricked the corners of my eyes. You’re with me.
Always, Senna. No matter how far apart we are. No matter what stands between us. I am with you.
