Screw My Childhood Sweetheart His Alpha Brother Marked Me First novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Cynthia!Dad pulled her away from Mason as she struggled to get free. What the hell is wrong with you?

Get them all out!Her gaze swiveled towards me, and I could feel the hate pouring off of her in waves. She’s a murderer! She killed my baby!

Dad stiffened as my mom broke down in tears, going limp and collapsing onto the floor.

Knox nuzzled the side of my face. You’re okay. We’ve got you.

It no longer felt as if the contents of my chest were being shredded, but pain still racked my body. Hurts,I mumbled.

I know. I’m so sorry.

River rubbed circles on my back. Everything will ease with a little time. His voice was strained, and I knew he was trying to take as much of the pain as he could.

Don’t, Luc,I whispered. I don’t want you to hurt.

He moved in even closer. I’d do anything for you.

My eyes burned as a few tears slipped free.

Mason cleared his throat. Your wife needs serious medical help.

Dad’s eyes cut to Mason, hardening. You don’t know my wife.He bent to help my mom to her feet, as if picking her up would make everything fine and dandy.

No, but I know your daughter, and I know that Cynthia has been putting her through hell. I should’ve stepped in before now, but I honestly didn’t know it had turned physical. I thought Senna could handle it until she graduated. That obviously isn’t the

case.

Dad’s chest puffed up. My wife is grieving. She might have said things she doesn’t mean, but she’d never hurt Senna.

River jumped to his feet. She threw a glass at Senna’s head. She could’ve killed her.

As soon as Riverhands left my skin, the pain intensified, and I couldn’t help the whimper that escaped. River muttered a curse and hurried back to me, giving me that skintoskin contact again. Sorry, Ro. I’m here.

Your wife needs medical intervention, inpatient care. I can recommend some places in Seattle, and Senna is welcome to stay with us while Cynthia gets the help she needs.

My wife doesn’t need a hospital. She needs time. That’s all.

Mom wobbled on her feet but took two steps towards me. It should’ve been you. I’d give anything to have you be the one in the ground. Not my beautiful Lacey.

Chapter 68

Mason’s eyes flashed. That isn’t grief. That’s sickness.

A flicker of guilt passed over my father’s face. Cynthia, go to our room. You need to lie down.

She whirled on him, almost losing her balance. You! You don’t even care. Lacey’s dead, and you don’t give a damn. You make me stay in this house with that girl. You never come home. You’re probably fucking your secretary. I don’t even care. I just want Lacey back.

A muscle in my dad’s jaw flickered, and he took hold of her arm. You need to come with me.

She ripped her arm out of his hold. Don’t touch me. You’re the one who wanted another kid. You couldn’t be happy with just Lacey. You wanted more. Well, your more killed our baby.

She ran from the room, a door slamming downstairs moments later. The rest of us were silent. River and Knox were still stroking me, trying to soothe the worst of my pain.

Dad lifted his chin. I apologize-

Don’t apologize. Get your wife the help she needs and give Senna time to heal. Let her stay with us while Cynthia gets

treatment.

My dad turned towards me, his gaze catching where River and Knox’s hands were on me. Nothing about the touches was inappropriate, but I knew they had to look odd to him. Do you want to go stay with Mason and Knox for a little while? Just until I get Mom settled?

Yes,I croaked. He spoke as if Mom could get a shot and be back to normal by the end of the week. It wouldn’t happen. If she could be helped, it would take a long time.

Okay.He turned back to Mason. Thank youI don’t know-
