Chapter 17 The Real Academic
Genius
Killian actually had no idea.
After finding out Austin placed first in the city, he hadn’t bothered checking Olivia’s scores.
Good scores from her were just nice but not necessary.
Besides, Olivia just needed to be a graceful little princess. He’d arrange a comfortable, perfect future for her himself.
“On my report card, every single subject was a perfect score. Except on the last exam, I left one entire section blank,” Olivia said calmly.
But it shocked both Killian and Austin.
“Dad, if I’d wanted to, Austin never would’ve placed first in the city! Do you get it now?” Her hands clenched into fists.
Calista gently hugged Olivia and stood firmly beside her. She knew about Olivia’s scores. And her heart ached the most for this child who’d been mature and wise beyond her years Jinée she was little.

Killian’s stern face showed a hint of confusion. “Why would you leave a section blank?”
“Because…” Olivia looked at her grandmother, her father,
and her brother-all standing in front of her-and her voice started shaking.
“We’re twins, but he always gets first choice in everything.
What do we have for dinner? He decides. Where are we
going tomorrow? We have to listen to him.
“When we were kids on the swings, we were supposed to take
turns, but he could hog it forever and I had to leave after one go. When we got the same toys, he picked first and I got his leftovers. If his broke, he’d just take mine.
“Whenever we fought, you always lectured me. You said everything in the house belonged to my brother and I shouldn’t compete with him.

“First semester of seventh grade, I scored higher than him.
He threw a tantrum and made life miserable for me and
Mom for two whole months. That’s when I figured out I needed to dumb myself down.”
Killian had no idea Olivia felt this way. The family had plenty
of resources. Why was she keeping score like this?

He shook his head, feeling helpless. “Olivia, you should’ve just
told us.”
Olivia let out a harsh laugh. When she was little and didn’t
know any better, she used to fight back every time.
What good did that do? They just told her to let her brother
have his way.
But that was over now. With her mom, she’d have a freer and bigger life ahead of her.
“When Mom and I left the Frost Manor yesterday, I told
Austin I’m not going easy on him anymore.”
Austin kept his eyes down so nobody could see what he was
feeling.
Charles immediately had Jennifer pull up the report card. When they saw all those perfect scores, they were both floored.
Turned out the real academic genius was standing right here!
Charles said excitedly, “Sweetheart, go give that speech.” 3/4
