Chapter 29
An elegant European-style building in creamy white and soft
blue stood majestically, exuding an air of sophistication.
From within the castle-like structure emerged a refined elder
wearing round-rimmed glasses.
He squinted, looking utterly incredulous, as if he’d misseen
something.
“Is this the day you finally deign to drive yourself?”
Evander smiled warmly, shaking his hand, “For someone this important, I’d never let anyone else do the honors.”
Before Calista and Olivia could ponder the meaning of
“someone this important,” Evander had led Olivia over to the
elder.
“Olivia, this is Professor Logan Wiseman, a mathematics instructor from the Yale Scholars Program.
“Professor Wiseman, this is Olivia Frost, the academic
prodigy who made waves online today with her controlled Score performance.”

Olivia barely had time to hold back a gasp before she instinctively bowed slightly.
“It’s an honor to meet you, Professor Wiseman!”
Holy moly! Who am I looking at?
This was a name printed in her textbooks! She never thought she’d meet the man himself!
Calista’s eyes widened with surprise and delight the moment she heard “Yale Scholars Program.”
Any parent with a middle schooler knew exactly how
prestigious that program was.
It was a national training program, staffed by top-tier university professors who handpicked academically
outstanding middle school students from across the country for intensive coaching.
Participants could either prepare for math, physics, and other competitions to gain college admission or follow the
standard SAT track.
Put simply, getting into the program was practically a
Guarantee of admission to a top university.

Every high-achieving student dreamed of being selected by
the Yale Scholars Program, of that leap to elite institutions like Yale University or Columbia University.
Yet spots were extremely limited. Only the crème de la crème of middle schoolers stood a chance each year, and not even all of them were lucky enough to get the opportunity.
Calista’s voice trembled with excitement. “It’s a pleasure to
meet you, Professor Wiseman!”
“A pleasure to meet you both,” Logan replied, adjusting his glasses as he studied Olivia from head to toe.
He then turned to Evander, his tone formal and straightforward. “Evander, I’m only here as a favor to you. I watched Olivia’s speech, and it was impressive. But to join the Yale Scholars Program, talent alone isn’t enough-she’ll have to pass an assessment first.”
His message was clear: offering Olivia a chance to take the test was the extent of his willingness to compromise.
Getting into the program wouldn’t be about connections-it
would be about skill.

Logan’s words were blunt, yet neither Calista nor Olivia felt offended.
The fact that he was willing to give her a chance at all was already a tremendous opportunity.
Whether Olivia passed or not would depend solely on her own abilities, not on Logan or Evander.
Olivia thanked Evander profusely.
“Thank you, Mr. Hayes. So the exam wasn’t an excuse after
all-it was real.”
She still didn’t know the full extent of Evander’s influence,
but he was incredibly reliable, with a network that seemed
endlessly powerful.
Logan led the three of them into the main building.
Once they reached a study, he pulled a sealed envelope from his bag.
He asked as he opened it, “Are you ready, little girl? This test is quite challenging. If you pass, you’ll be admitted to the Yale Scholars Program, and I’ll personally oversee your Aathematics studies.””

Olivia nodded, “I’m ready!”

Calista and Evander stepped out of the study, leaving Olivia
to take the test undisturbed.
The estate was sprawling, quiet, and serene, and the two walked slowly, enjoying the peace.
It had been years since they’d spent any time alone together.
Without her daughter beside her, Calista felt awkward, maintaining a six-foot distance from Evander.
“Thank you for arranging all this for Olivia so quickly,” she
said.
If her daughter were truly recruited by a top university, even
without the Frost family, Olivia would have a bright future
ahead of her.
She hated the Frosts, but she couldn’t deny the power of money-their children had access to opportunities and resources that gave them countless shortcuts in life.

Calista had no idea what the future held for Austin.

All she cared about was giving her daughter the chance to thrive, unburdened by her past.
Evander paused, a hint of helplessness in his voice. “You’re always thanking me…”
။
After thinking for a moment, Calista said, “That’s because you’re always helping me. Mr. Hayes, if there’s ever anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask. I might not have much to offer, but I’ll do my best.”
“Then start by changing how you address me,” Evander said.
“Hmm?”
Evander slipped one hand into his pocket, turning to face her with a relaxed, expectant look.
Slanted rays of sunlight bathed him, making him look as perfect as a sculpted statue.
“Do you plan on calling me Mr. Hayes forever?” he asked.
Calista fell silent.
