Second Chance His Unending Love (Calista Hartwell) novel Chapter 37

Chapter 37

A collective frown settled over the group.

They were about to reprimand the waiter for his lack of manners when Nicole, her curly ponytail bouncing, burst into

the room in a carefree rush.

She darted over to Killian’s side and plopped herself down on his lap without a second thought, her short miniskirt exposing a pair of shapely legs-something she didn’t seem the least

bit bothered by.

“Mr. Frost! I just found out something huge!”

At that moment, a soft-spoken man sitting in the corner, who hadn’t uttered a single word since arriving, suddenly spoke

“Mr. Frost, your associate seems to have no sense of decorum

whatsoever.”

The speaker was Bradley Ferrer, Killian’s business partner for the past few years.

At thirty-eight, Bradley was a man of exceptional talent. 15:32

He earned his first money in college with a patent he developed, then found his niche in new energy vehicle R&D and quickly became a tech tycoon in recent years.

Nicole bit her lower lip, her tone turning coquettish. “Mr. Ferrer, you’re being so mean.”

Bradley’s fingertips traced the rim of his coffee cup, his cold voice laced with a hint of nonchalance. “Didn’t your parents ever teach you to knock before entering a room?”

Knocking was basic courtesy, especially at a formal business gathering like this one.

Killian also thought Nicole’s behavior was inappropriate. He gently pushed her away, his expression turning stern as he

told her to go outside first.

“Oh come on, Mr. Frost! I was so excited to tell you something important that I forgot to knock. You big men shouldn’t be so

hard on a girl, okay?” Nicole whined.

Setting down his wine glass, Killian rubbed his temples, his

patience wearing thin. “What is it then?”

“Mr. Frost, guess who I saw?”

Killian’s expression clouded over; he was clearly uninterested

in her trivial news.

“It was Calista! I saw her working as a caddy, picking up golf balls! Can you believe it? A woman her age slumming it as a caddy-it’s hilarious!”

She cackled loudly, but no one in the room joined in her laughter, this being far from the Frost family’s territory, where everyone catered to her whims.

What was more, she failed to notice that Killian’s expression was growing increasingly gloomy and stormy.

Calista’s demeaning choice of work was nothing short of an

embarrassment to him.

Could it be that she’d tracked him down at the golf course, deliberately trying to humiliate him by parading around in such a lowly job?

Bradley suddenly interjected, his eyes glinting with curiosity, “I heard you’re going through a divorce lately, Mr. Frost?”

Killian fell silent, hoping to steer the conversation away from

his personal life.

Bradley was currently single. He’d been married once a few years ago, but the marriage had lasted a mere three months before ending in divorce.

Their circle of friends had been shocked at the time when

he’d given his ex-wife a third of his assets-a move that had

become a running joke among them for quite some time.

Bradley smiled faintly and raised his coffee cup in Killian’s

direction. “Fair point. I’m looking into it.”

Confused but willing to go along with the change of subject, Killian lifted his wine glass in response.

Nicole pouted her lips, feeling a surge of satisfaction in her

heart.

Calista had sunk so low-no man in his right mind would ever

take her back now.

With such a disgraceful ex-wife, Killian would never consider

reconciling with her again.

Calista and the others made their way to the tee box.

This particular par-4 hole was a tough one-long, with sand traps and tricky terrain.

To make matters worse, the wind was blowing quite strongly that day, requiring precise calculations for every swing.

Nick didn’t believe for a second that Calista could turn the tables. He settled comfortably into his chair, looking on with a leisurely, amused expression.

After carefully selecting an iron club, Calista stepped up to

the tee box.

Despite his simmering anger, Hugh made no move to stop

her.

He stood there silently, watching Calista with an unspoken tenderness that threatened to spill over in his eyes.

Olivia quickly pulled out her phone and hit record.

The look on Hugh’s face said it all-he still cared deeply

about Calista.

It wasn’t anger that drove him; it was stubbornness.

WHA

on earth is he so upset about?

Just before she swung, Calista suddenly turned to Hugh and spoke.

“After I make this shot, could I have ten minutes of your time?”

Before Hugh could respond, Calista spun back around,

gathered her strength, and swung the club with a sharp whoosh.

The small white ball launched into the air, soaring toward the distant green.

Nick stroked his chin as he watched the ball’s trajectory, a smirk on his face. “You’re aiming straight for the green with this shot. If you don’t have enough power behind it, the ball will land in the sand trap, and you’ll lose the game for sure.”

However, Calista lowered her club, her smile calm and

confident. “Let’s just let the ball fly for a bit.”

Moments later, the white ball landed on the green, rolled a short distance, and then-with pinpoint accuracy-dropped straight into the hole.

“An albatross?” Nick shot up from his chair, his eyes wide with 7/10

She’d actually scored a hole-in-one on a par-4!

He immediately called for a golf cart, eager to go check for

himself.

The rest of the group climbed into their carts as well, all equally eager to see how Calista had pulled off such an

incredible feat.

Olivia held up her phone, giving her mom a thumbs-up.

Lucky for her, she’d captured the whole thing on video.

Her mom was a total golf prodigy, and she’d been hiding it

all this time!

When they reached the green, the crowd gathered around
