"Are you all at Krontos University right now? I'll book a restaurant and come pick you up!"
Angeline glanced at the watch on her wrist. It was just the right time.
"Don't do that—the traffic in Krontos is terrible! We've already booked the restaurant. I'll send you the address. You should set out early to avoid getting stuck on the road. Gregory wants to take us somewhere fun after we've had dinner."
Marion hung up and promptly sent her the address.
Angeline got dressed and picked up her handbag on the way to the door. She had just pulled the door open when she noticed someone standing outside. She jumped in shock.
"Ms. Emmerson."
The man standing before her was tall and slim. He looked to be about 25 or 26 years old, and he inclined his head at her.
"Who are you?"
"I'm your bodyguard. Mr. Powell sent me here. If you want to go out, I've got to follow you to ensure your safety. You can call me Lenny Chestfield."
Lenny's voice still had a youthful quality to it.
"How long have you been standing outside?" Angeline asked.
"My work hours are from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. If you remain outside after that, it counts as overtime." Lenny answered solemnly
Angeline did not see any takeout boxes outside, so she asked, "Have you eaten anything since this morning?"
"I had an energy bar."
Angeline was speechless.
She was about to call Sean but worried he was busy, so she called Taylor instead.
Taylor picked up almost immediately.
"Ms. Angeline."
"You arranged for a bodyguard?"
"Yes. Mr. Lawson is worried about your safety and asked me to assign you a bodyguard. I was rather busy this morning, so I picked only one. There will be a new bodyguard tomorrow, and there will be four shifts to protect you and ensure your safety."
"This is overkill, Mr. Powell."
Angeline closed the door. She had just reached the elevator when Lenny pressed the button at once. She nodded in thanks.
"I've been training over the last few years. It's not like I'm completely helpless."
"Wow! What's all this?"
Marion nudged Angeline with her elbow.
"Is this… a boyfriend? He looks like a puppy. He doesn't appear to be very old."
"Why are you looking at them like that?"
Alva looked disdainfully at Marion.
Then she looked at Angeline with a gaze that conveyed she was greedy for gossip and asked, "Do you take a bodyguard with you whenever you go out?"
"Let's go in! I think it's our turn to be served," Gregory said, glancing at his phone.
Marion and the others had similar tastes in food to Angeline. They all loved rich, hearty stews.
This restaurant was famous for its stew. Gregory had reserved a spot very early, which was why they could get a place the moment they arrived.
As they were eating, Gregory received a call from Ned. He slipped up and mentioned he was eating with Angeline.
After he hung up, he apologized to Angeline, "I'm sorry, Angeline! I didn't let it slip on purpose!"
