Mason had never understood why Robert had pushed his blood relatives aside for an adoptive son. Later, when Sean had led Lawson Global to greater heights in terms of revenue and reputation, Mason had set aside his prejudice.
But when Angeline, who was related to Sean, had suddenly become Jessica's adoptive daughter, Mason felt something was afoot. He took it as Sean wanted to have Lawson Global and the Lawson family fortune to himself.
After all, there was only a 15 or 16-year age gap between Angeline and Jessica. If Robert was truly fond of Angeline, he could've adopted her himself. But he'd made Jessica adopt Angeline—it was obvious what was going on!
Robert would definitely indicate in his will that half of his assets and shares would go to Jessica. Since Jessica wasn't married and wasn't in the right state of mind to get married, everything she inherited would go to Angeline.
No matter how capable Sean was, there was no way Mason could accept his ambition in wanting to claim everything owned by the Lawson family as his. That was why Mason was on Helen's side.
"Mason!" Daniel waved a hand. "I'd advise you to stop talking."
"Why should I? You might be afraid of Robert, but I'm not. I'll never understand why he's siding with an outsider instead of his own kin. I approve of Sean—he's capable, and Lawson Global's attained greater heights in his hands. But Angeline… What right does she have to be the company's vice president?"
Mason waved the documents Helen had given him. "Helen's brought us an exclusive contract with Vitality Biotech Group immediately after becoming a board member. Shouldn't our vice president be able to do that to deserve the position?"
