Second Marriage to Mr. Rich (Ned Fletcher) novel Chapter 365

"Yes, ma'am!" Jamie said.

He sighed in relief as he watched Angeline leave. Then, he contacted Joe.

As Angeline left Lawson Global's parking lot, Lenny glanced at her through the rearview mirror. He could tell she was trying to stay calm.

He said, "Do you want something sweet to eat, Ms. Angeline? My girlfriend says eating something sweet will improve your bad mood."

"You can tell I'm in a bad mood?"

Angeline didn't look up from her phone.

"Your tone's the same as always, but… it's my first time seeing you look like this."

Lenny smiled.

"I've always felt you and Mr. Lawson are quite similar—you can put up a calm façade no matter what, and it feels like you're always in control. You can even smile when facing Mr. Green."

Angeline looked up. Lenny's words made her realize that she and Sean were indeed becoming increasingly similar to one another.

She smiled and said, "I think that's an exaggeration."

She locked her phone and turned to look out the window with a small smile. She figured her and Sean's fates were probably entangled ages before this—perhaps it was when he'd first helped her.

Birds of a feather flocked together. She and Sean were the same, which was why they could understand each other. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say Sean knew her a tad bit better than she did him.

Just then, she received a message from Sean.

Sean: "Sorry, Angie. I won't be back tonight."

Angeline's fingers flew across the screen.

Angeline: "It's fine. Remember to have dinner and get some rest. I'll see you at work tomorrow."

At that moment, a news broadcast of Fletcher Corporation's bankruptcy was playing on the huge screen outside a building. A video played of the scenes captured earlier in the day as the news anchor reported the news.
