Simon chuckled lowly.

"I understand."

Angeline's use of the fact that she'd saved Simon to get Norwalk Corporation involved in a political matter wasn't enough to cover the havoc Ingrid's lie would wreak on the company.

But the revelation of Angeline being Simon's savior and Norwalk Corporation being at risk of harm made Simon pause to consider the issue at the important juncture of Marvonia's diplomatic visit to Ica.

Simon put the folder down.

"It's no wonder you managed to get Vitality Biotech to where it is in such a short time. Aside from your accomplishments in academia, you're also an amazing entrepreneur. As for this matter… I need to meet with my people."

When Angeline saw that he didn't return the folder to her but placed it down beside him instead, she knew she'd succeeded. She smiled and nodded.

"Of course!"

"It's 11 years too late, but I must thank you. Thank you for saving me back then!"

Simon held up his wine glass earnestly.

"C'mon, don't tell me you believe Boss just because she said so," Danny teased.

"You didn't look into the matter when Ingrid claimed to be your savior, right? How else could you have gotten the wrong person?"

"I trust Angeline."

Simon's eyes seemed particularly gentle in the glow of the restaurant's warm lights.

"She wouldn't lie to me about something like this. I'm in the wrong for not looking closely into the matter before today."

Angeline clinked glasses with Simon.

"I accept your gratitude, but you don't need to be too bothered by it. I stand by what I said—I would've saved whoever it was in that situation. It was something that I did, by the way."
