Sean had had Jason report directly to Angeline on the overseas expansion.
"It's all because of the political elements. They're allies with Marvonia and don't want to risk offending them."
Angeline removed her earrings as she spoke.
"Still, it'd be good to get the news of our collaboration with Norwalk Corporation out before the Minister of Commerce's visit.
"Even if Norwalk Corporation is nothing but a luxury brand, it's nationally recognized in Ica. I'm sure Fontenay will consider that and wonder whether it's something the government approves of."
This was what doing business was about. One had to mix genuine and fake news to achieve one's goals.
"So, have you and Simon already agreed on the collaboration?" Sean asked.
"Not yet, but there shouldn't be any issue with it. The conflict within the Norwalk family is intense now. Simon's the one who took Ingrid on as Norwalk Corporation's global ambassador, and she's also—from the public's perception—his savior.
"From a purely business perspective, I'm sure he wouldn't want the responsibility of getting the wrong person and affecting Norwalk Corporation's brand image to fall on his shoulders."
Sean smiled slightly, suddenly recalling what Brayden had said when persuading him to leave Lawson Global as soon as possible. Brayden had mentioned that no one was indispensable. Once he left Lawson Global, someone else would be capable enough to take over.
Now, with Angeline at the helm, he knew he could rest easy after leaving the company.
"Have you reviewed the information for tomorrow's meeting at the authorities' office?"
Sean held Angeline's hand to his lips and kissed it lightly.
"Yeah, and I've also spoken to the senior executives who are going with me. I have some idea of what to expect now."
She thought about the call she'd received from Daniel earlier in the day.
"Mr. Webb's a great guy. He called me this afternoon to give me some pointers.
"He told me that dealing with the authorities is different from dealing with the other business partners. He said the most important thing is to show them I'm sincere and earnest in working with them. It's too bad Winston isn't the best."
