Second Marriage to Mr. Rich (Ned Fletcher) novel Chapter 376

"Helen Lawson called me, saying that she wanted to work with me. She thinks I'm the father of Angie's kids, so she wants to trick them out of the old Lawson residence and hand them to me. That way, I can use their custody to threaten Angie into making Vitality Biotech Group let Fletcher Corporation off the hook."

Ned looked serious as he spoke. "I was worried she would harm the kids, so I pretended to go along with her over the phone."

He pulled his phone out. "I'll send you the recording."

After doing so, he subconsciously looked past Sean and into the apartment, trying to catch a glimpse of Angeline. Then, he said, "Angie's blocked my number. I haven't given Helen an answer, so if Angie has any questions… she can contact me.

"I'll go along with whatever plans she has! Even if she wants to report this to the police, I'll cooperate as best as I can. I can act as a witness."

Sean nodded. "I'll pass the message to her."

Ned couldn't hide his disappointment for not being able to see Angeline. He would've been fine with her giving him the cold shoulder; it would've been good enough for him to be able to just see her. He missed her terribly.

Ned pursed his lips. "I'll… I'll get going, then."

"Is this regret that I see, Ned?" Sean asked.

Ned paused. Tears filled his eyes as he turned back to look at Sean. He seemed to sniffle a little as he smiled bitterly. "Yeah. I'm so overcome by regret that I don't even know how to make things up to her."

"Don't bother her anymore, then. She's already moved on; the father of her children is the one who holds her heart now. You're the one who pushed Angie to someone else, so stop disturbing her. Don't drag her down again and disrupt the life she should've had in the first place."
